Washer install
We are going to install a vented combo unit if our 37MBH and it looks straight forward...mostly. We want to install a drain pan underneath the washer, but I am unsure where to install the pan drain line. Has anyone installed a drain pan in their camper and can advise me? It occurred to me that I could drill straight down through the carpet, but I'm unsure what structure might be there. The washing machine goes in the bedroom closet, which is more or less in the front cap.

Thanks for the response. Could you post interior and exterior pics of the pan drain?

You don't need drain pan with vented w/d.

I'm going to install washer and dryer this year sometime. I don't get the drain pan though.........UNLESS you are cutting a hole in the floor of trailer. Where would it drain otherwise? Most folks I know that have these, don't have a drain pan. Plus it adds height.
BUT........I'm still assimilating facts on this stuff. I can't decide what to do, exactly.

I'm not sure why "vented" makes a difference. I am concerned about water leaks and giving the water someplace to go other than my camper floor.

That was my question, where to run the drain? The drain pan is plastic and weighs about a pound, so weight isn't a concern.
I am considering something like this, instead.

If unit is not vented you need the drain pan. The VENTED out the wall is for the dryer part of the unit like at your house.

Speaking from experience – I think you definitely need a drain pan. Our washing machine drain pan empties through the floor, behind the propane tanks. We had a sock stuck in the washer and had to remove it through the clean out port on the front of the machine. When we opened the cleanout port, excess water drained out the front of the machine. We absorbed most of it with paper towels so it didn't actually drain through the drain pan, but without the drain pan the carpet would definitely have gotten wet. I'm really glad we have the drain pan in case of a leak under the washing machine. We have separate washer/dryer- not combo.

I understand that, but again, I am concerned about washer water leaks and giving the water someplace to go other than my camper floor. So, vented or unvented isn't relevant to my concern.

It looks like our bedrooms are identical, except my washer dryer prep is on the opposite wall. Where did you drill the hole for the drain? Would you mind sharing pictures of the pan and drain in the closet and where it came out underneath?

I assume you drilled a hole down low in the panel below the water and drain connections at floor level. Then you can fish the drain hose down where the supply lines and drain are routed.

Don't think these pics will add anything to the ones Cumminz posted but just in case I will post them. Good luck with your project.

Here's some pics of my install. I cut a hole in the floor that comes out inside the back part of the hitch. Let me know if you can't see the pics or need an explanation.

Thanks Brady and Joe. A question for both of you: how did you decide where to drill the hole?
Joe, it looks like the washer is screwed down, are the screws going through the pan? Did you use caulk or something else to seal the pan?

You've heard the old adage of "measure twice, cut once"? I think I measured 20 times! LOL! Also knocking on the floor, you can hear where there is no beam. Inside the hitch area seemed good to me because it would not be seen and it would be out of the way. And yes, the washer brackets are screwed into the floor. I did put silicone sealant around the hole in the pan before placing the bracket over it.
