Westlake "G" tires how are they working out?

My 36CKTS came with a set of Westlake G tires. I'm on the fence about getting rid of them or not. Wonder what kind of luck others are having with them. We travel about 4,000 miles a year with enough junk in our trailer to support us for 2-3 months at a time. Inquiring minds want to know..

How close are you to the individual tire weight limits?

I ran Westlakes for a couple of years on a lighter trailer with no problems, and I know a few people that have run them on heavier units with no problems.

However on my last trailer they were too close to the weight capacity to make me comfortable so I upgraded to Maxxis.

I only put on about 4000 miles on mine this year, so far so good.

I had them on my first Cedar Creek and I put over 10,000 miles on them. The Cedar Creek that I have now came with Goodyear G614 but they aren't cheap. When they wear out another set of G614 will go on camper

My Cedar Creek came with the Westlake tires on the trailer we bought new in April 2015. So far we have pulled the trailer over 12K + miles with these tires and I will use them for one more year before replacing them. I check the air pressure and wheel lug nut torque every time we pull the camper, this is checked in the morning when the tires are cold. I also check tire temps at every stop we make with an IR heat gun.

We've had 2 sets of the WestLake G rated tires on 2 different 5ers. The first one was bought used and we put an additional 6000 miles on them. No issues at all. Air pressures were always max and our weights were always under GVW and the max capacity of the tires.

The second set came new on our 38EL. And unlike others we've had, they're nitrogen filled from the factory. So far, only 2000 miles, but they're performing well. Air pressure is near max, and GVW is under max.

For us, the phrase 'performing well' means 1) no blow outs 2) no tread separations 3) tires roll well and 4) I don't have to adjust the air pressure constantly.

I am not having any problems............at least not since I had the axles aligned.
I also wanted G614's.........which will be my next set sometime......but other additions cost so much I put it off. But they seem ok.

I keep 110 psi in them. They are 14 ply tires. I have discussed this tire at length with CC Warranty folks and they claim they researched tires when Goodyear de-rated their tires, and the Westlakes came out on top. Now, I'm sure price had a lot to do with it, but if you buy a new set, they aren't that cheap.

Seems the tire industry has succumbed to the offshore cost factor. Maybe one day that will change.

I'd hate to be the one to advise you on anything with tires, and then you have an issue.........but I can only say that for me, I'm going to watch them closely but keep them till either wear or some problem dictates a new set. I have about 8-10K miles on them.

I have Westlakes E on my Wildcat for the last 3 yrs with 18,000 miles on them. They still look good and I plan to replace them before 20,000miles.

We are running Westlake C tires on a Flagstaff 27 trailer for about 18000 miles and have had no issues. We use a TPMS and run them at the max pressure.

Had the Westlake E rated tires on my 340RK when I bought it used earlier this year. Towed from seller location to campground in San Diego (60 miles) with no issues, but I knew I had E rated tires that were not original to 5'r that had a max PSI rating of 80, but the rims were rated for 110 psi. I went to replace the Westlakes with Sailuns' but found there was no inventory anywhere on the west coast area. I ended up going with the Goodyear 614's G rated. Fantastic tire. 5'r behaves very well under highway speeds and is much more stable. Just got done towing from San Diego to Phoenix, AZ and then down to the SE corner of AZ. Tires were great.

West Lake tires

Just finished our first year using the Westlake G on my 2016 36CKTS. Have pulled the rig 9,463 miles, no problems. Tires were nitrogen filled, but on the road could not find filling stations, so added air.

I have Westlake G rated tires on my 2016 Cedar Creek 36CKTS and have put about 10000 miles on them. Run them at max cold pressure of 105 psi and about 1000 lbs under their max load carrying capability per tire. I have tire pressure and temperature TPS on them and notice that they seem to run cooler than the Goodyear G614 that I had on my other 5th wheel. My other 5th wheel weighed about the same as this one. No problems to date.

What TPS system are you using, and where did you purchase it? Did you install yourself?
