Why won't my furnace turn on? (Brrrrghhh!)

Hello

It was working fine a few days ago but now, when I set the controller to FURN 76º, it'll turn on for 5 minutes exactly before turning itself off, air is ambient (not warm).

I've reset the controller already by removing the cover from the wall, disconnecting the clip pin, waiting 30 seconds before reversing. Also simply did a factory reset. Nothing has helped.

The controller is confusing to me but I've been able to manage until now.

Any/all suggestions welcome. Thank you.

Do you have propane?
Do other gas appliances work?

When you say “controller”, are you talking about the thermostat or some other device?

Hi Mr. Dan, thanks for the good question
I'm referring to the Dometic "Comfort Control Center II Thermostat" which controls the a/c and furnace.

Furnace not working?

I had the same thing! Mine ended up being my propane regulator was defective! If insufficient pressure, the furnace will not light off. Blows cold air a while then shuts down. The new propane regulator was installed and the furnace lit off and worked normal!

the Library at the top of this page in the green bar has a most of the manual in it to maintain or repair most of the systems in your RV.

Below is a link for suburban furnace from the Library.

https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...?do=file&id=67

To rule out the propane regulator lite all the stove burners on high and try to start the furnace. If the stove burners flame drops or goes out you may have a propane regulator problem or a propane hose problem. If not go to page 23 of the suburban manual in the library for trouble shooting it.

Hope this helps Tim

Thanks, found the reason

When I changed tanks last time, I didn't close the hose tight enough and propane has been leaking... so much so the pressure was too low to light the furnace

I thought... "but I have no problems with my stove..." (there was enough pressure for that and I had just changed tanks last week

SO mystery solved. If the furnace doesn't work or just blows air for 5 minutes before shutting off, it's either the propane regulator or too little fuel/pressure to run the furnace.

Thanks everyone!!!!

Glad to hear you are back in business.
Thanks for coming back and letting us know.

Troubleshooting always begins with the basics. More often than not, it usually isn't something overly complicated.
