Yellow Sticky Stuff on CC Walls
Just came from looking at a barely used 2019 CC Hathaway 34IK. We've been looking for a new one and they seem to be hard to find. Somebody traded this one yesterday for a Champagne with different layout after owning it for only 5 months.
In the picture attached you can see some yellow spots on the pantry wall. I went to see the rig today and there are a lot of areas where there are similar spots. Many but not all of them seem to be aligned with studs. They are yellow and a bit sticky. It's obvious the short term owners rarely, if ever, used the trailer so it can't be from smoking. There's no odor at all in the rig other than it still smells new. Most of the tags are still on the furniture, floor and cabinets.
Did CC have an issue with their adhesive when this was built in November '18? Since most of the spots line up with the aluminum studs that seems to make sense. Don't know what else it can be or if it can be cleaned off. If it can be cleaned off will it just come back.
Love the rig and the "used" price but this maybe this is why it got traded in so quickly?

Its probably the adhesive they used. There are previous discussions on this and I believe the explanation is the adhesive oxides over time and becomes yellow(clear when applied). We have it our ceiling and progressed over the first year or so of owing the rig. I tried to get if off but to no avail. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me...

I'd have the dealer fix the issue if possible or at least look into why it's 'seeping' adhesive. If it's not a structural issue and/or won't become an issue 'down the road', then go for it and have them clean it up. I ran out and looked at ours and it's not 'seeping' adhesive anywhere.
Our CC 34IK was built in February this year; came in as a 2020 with a mix of mostly 'late' 19.5 model year features.
From what I've seen of the full 2020 model year units, if your're 'sold' on the 34IK layout, grab this one. This model has nicer back splashes and several plug-ins in more places than the full model year 2020. IMO, the 2019.5 model has much nicer trim and a nicer bath and bedroom closet layout than the full 2020.

How can I tell if it's a '19 or '19.5? I've attached the labels.

TXFolkie-
Here is a VIN decoder site: Universal VIN Decoder - Model list Forest River, which recognize
It doesn't tell you much except that the coach is a 2019 and it's number is 222402.
Here's how it breaks down...sorry, I can't find the actual website for this information, but have it in a file for our VIN...this is the VIN on the coach you posted above:
4x4 = Forest River, INC.
F = Fifth Wheel
CR = Cedar Creek
K = 34' (not sure if this means the living area or model but the entire exterior length is 37' 7")
2 = 2 axles
2 = company internal check digit
K = 2019 model year
S = Topeka, IN plant
222 = internal company serialization number
402 = specific to the unit number
We were told that 34IK's manufactured later in the calendar year are called '19.5' so a 'half year' model. The VIN doesn't specify that. You can call Cedar Creek and ask them for the actual manufacture date or send an email to them. You can also ask them about that bleed through in the pantry and what/why/how to fix.
Our coach came in with an 'L' in the VIN so it's technically a 2020 but it has all the features of the 2019 model year, with the exception of the Insignia brand microwave.
If you do a search for the 2020 photos on google you'll see small differences in the full 2020's. Less plug ins; a different bathroom and bedroom closet configuration; different appliances; different trim in the valances; etc. Personally, we like the 2019 interior style and appliances better.
So here is a link to the Forest River 'virtual tour' of the 2020 34IK. You can see the differences in the tour and the photos if you google a 2019 and look at those photos. In the VINs I've seen on dealer selling websites, the serial numbers for the 2020's are now 223XXX as opposed to the 222XXX. Ours is a very late 2019.5/early 2020 because our serial number is 222985, but has the 'L' identifying the year as a 2020.

Hope this helps...

I have 2019.5 CC silverback. Your pic's look exactly like mine but I haven't notice any such spots. Mine was completed Dec 10 2018 according to the stickers on the left side. We love ours so far. I wouldn't be afraid of it.

Just me being me, but a trailer traded in after 5 months ?? smells Lemonish to me. Was it truly a "Trade In" ? or was it brought back for other reasons ??

If it's just in the pantry, and isn't some weird structural issue, I wouldn't worry about it. And I traded out of my 1st TT within 6 months, not because there was anything wrong with it, I just realized how much we loved camping and the first TT wasn't big enough for my rapidly growing son! Sometimes you just don't know if a layout is going to work until you use it for a while. Happy camping!!

Kelly,
I am with you on that one.
Traded in my first TT after one season of use, roughly 8 months. Found it was not big enough and discovered other features we wanted. Other than that, when traded, nothing was wrong with it.

And this is very typical, especially for new campers. You buy the first one or even second one and start to figure out why those other people have what they have and you want it too. I'm only on my 11th RV and it's all the DW's fault!

And don't forget the old story, I bought the camper that fits my needs, except it really needed blah, blah, blah. No manufacturer has those features, until 6 minutes after I leave the lot with the one I just bought!

You might look closely at the spots to see a staple hole, and then they smear some puddy over and wipe off with a rag. Sometimes not to good on the wipping so leaves a smear. Try wiping with a citrus cleaner, should take it right off.

To the OP....we have the same yellow spots on our bedroom walls (2019.5 CC). Have not yet figured out what it is nor have I found anything that will remove it.

This unit was built in November 2018. So I'd say it's a 19.5.
My ML 2503S was built in April 2015 as a 2016 model. Sometime in the summer (June/July 2015) they started making the real 2016 MY changes (i.e., "16.5"). Around April 2016, they started making the 2017's and so on.
