I have a 2012 Coachman Freelander that I bought used, and the freshwater fill inlet apparently has a check valve, just like the city line. This prevents me from filling it while dry camping from a water jug. Is this normal or did the previous owner install the wrong inlet? Can I simply replace with a standard gravity fill inlet from Amazon?
Make sure the inlet is higher than the top of the tank! Mine isn’t, and therefore the valve is there to prevent water from coming back out. I have a similar issue in a different model,
I think it's normal. They assume that you're going to fill the fresh water tank from a faucet before you leave or from another source with a pressurized fill. You could cut a fresh water hose short and use a pump to get it into the tank. Not a lot of fun, but if you're boondocking, but you could use a hand pump like they use to pump antifreeze into the system.
