2015 Mirada 32UD and Tailgater

We're new to the forum and new to RVing! Help! We have the Tailgater bundle and trying to figure out running the antenna to the receiver without doing it through a window or door. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Tip

you don't have to rent DISH for 30 days straight. You can use it for 3 days and call to "pause" it and they charge $5/mo to let it sit on pause. and you can then use 3 days next month. I think you can do it for up to 9 months so 30 days of rental of DISH can turn into 10 three day weekends for the monthly service plus $5/month.

Edit,

If you want to pause and restart in under a month, they charge a lot to restart it, not just the $5.

I'm going out two weekends in October, which overlap my billing cycle, so two months of usage, and again in December, for two weekends, so another month of billing cycle.

Total of three months of billings at $85/month or whatever it is.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Time Warner Cable at home for TV, internet and phone at $245/month, and using TWC for internet only (no other options where I live) dumping the internet phone, which I don't use anyway, and going to Direct for home TV and a receiver and antenna on the RV. Friends tell me you buy the antenna and rent the box for around $6.50/month and just turn it on and use it, no additional monthly charges.

The cost is more or less a wash between TWC and direct for the home. BUT the big selling point, to me, seems to be not having to pay DISH their $85/month for three months of consecutive, but intermittent use.

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Put in the Directv a few days ago, I did Direct in the house and ordered a SD unit from Winegard for $375, sold the DISH for $200+ shipping and got a $200 gift card by ordering Direct for the house through COSTCO. So I'm more or less financially even on the change over to Direct. Now I pay $6.50/month for direct, or about the price of one month of DISH for a year of Directv. I set up the manual Directv unit on a tripod and found a good signal in 2-3 minutes. I don't have to call DISH anymore and "pause" and restart the account.

As for the pay-as-you go package providing you own all the equipment, reciever and tailgater if you call and CANCEL your sevice there is no $5 a month charge and just restart when you want to use again. If you PAUSE your service it's a pain in the neck. Heads up, you have to insist on CANCEL or they will try to talk you ino PAUSE.

Tip

With Directv you can set up the remote to either IR or RF, so if you have two TVs you can turn on/off and change channels with the remote in the bedroom. It sends out an IR signal for the TV for the room you're in and a RF signal to the direct box from another room. So if you're in bed you don't have to get out and go to the living room to change channels or shut everything off.
