about to be coachmen 27qb owner
Afternoon all!!
I just did a thing that we have wanted to do for a few years now. We just started the process of purchasing our 27qb. we are currently waiting on it to be built and shipped out to us. they are saying 5 weeks. it's been torture. although 5 weeks is about right for the weather to get better. currently 25 out
Any Advise? for a noob?
we have been scouring youtube and some blogs for info.

Joe,
We are the happy owners of a 2018 27QB. We love the floorplan because it gives each of us an opportunity to get up in the middle of the night without crawling over the other. Also, I cannot over-emphasize that there are no slides. That removes a HUGE maintenance and leak consideration from our table.
We are in the process of customizing it a bit, adding in powered fans and taking out the jack knife sofa to replace with recliners. We don't need the bed, and the sofa is not very comfortable to sit on. We will also be moving the TV down to a more comfortable viewing level behind the cab.
Our biggest complaint is the lack of drawers for storing things like - I don't know - SILVERWARE? And the lack of a pantry. Putting together some mitigation plans for that, like maybe removing the oven/stove and building some drawers and use an induction cooktop and possibly a rebuild of the dinette area to allow for some shelving next to the sink.
But overall, we are thrilled with the unit and would easily choose this model again.
Wish you all the best with it, and you will find a tremendous amount of support on this forum!

Congrats on the new rig, Joe. We like ours very much....especially the simplicity of design and features. It, so far, is very low maintenance.
We also removed the sofa and put these in it's place. What a difference it made. But it may not work for you...it's just the 2 of us and we don't travel with anyone else but the dog.

Nate, I'd love to see what you're doing with the TV. We are setting this rig up for snowbirding and I would like the TV down as well.

Jim,
We like those recliners. We are evaluating a couple different vendors, including RecPro.
Our goal is to tear down the dinette and put the recliners on the driver's side. That should open up some space beside the kitchen sink for some shelving.
Then put one of the dinette benches on the passenger side, facing the center, and use Lagun tables for dining. The TV mount will go on the pillar behind the passenger seat. At least that is the thought process at this point.
We are actually starting the tear down this weekend. We'll post pics as we get things accomplished.

Just curious....
Did you consider taking out the dinette, but leaving the bench in it's place? Instead of moving the bench to the opposite side? Basically, just swinging the bench 90 degrees.
I'm just thinking all the electronics for the antenna and TV and DVD player are on the dinette side. I hate running cables through styrofoam.......
I like the idea of removing the dinette a lot. Wife just told me she had considered it as well. And the use of Lagun tables works well. Great plan.
Looking forward to your pics.

Jim,
So with only the two of us, we don't need both bench seats. We will be turning the bench 90 degrees (with the back against the passenger side window), which will open up a (relatively) huge space in the middle. It will also give us about 14" between the end of the bench and the entry door. We hope to use that for a litter box/shoe storage area.
We don't use the antenna or DVD for the TV - Strictly streaming with a Roku. So all we need is power on the other side, which is already available from the compartment behind the passenger door.
The sofa removal and bench movement will be done this weekend, so I will have pics when complete. The TV is a bit more daunting, as I am not positive about the strength of the wall mount where I want to put it.

Can you post a pic of your recliners installed, we are thinking of couch replacement but didn't think about that type of recliner. Could have a problem because ours is on a slide.

Flatware doesn't have to be stored flat. I happened to run across a spare dishwasher silverware basket, normally in the door of a residential dishwasher. I was about to discard it when I said to DW, "Wouldn't this be useful in the trailer instead of that too-small drawer?" She agreed, and we've been using it that way ever since.
Truth be told, the racks in our residential dishwasher had begun to rust, so I had found a scrap one offered for free on Craigslist that had good racks. I told the "seller" I would haul it to the dump for free, just for the racks, and he was good with that. That's where the extra basket came from.

KNMIB,
I'll be glad to post them....but I won't have the RV in camera range until March 22. I'm in Indiana and it's in Florida.

We own a 2018 Coachmen 27QB and have used it 2 seasons. It’s the perfect size for 2 people and the right length to get into most spots at State Parks where we like to camp.
We fixed the lack of storage issue by buying some plywood and adding shelves to the cabinets in the kitchen, bath and bedroom. It basically doubles our storage space. I bought paint that matches exact so it appears like factory shelves. And I built them so they can be taken out easily and nothing is fastened to the motor home.
I also replaced the bath faucet with one that you can get your hands under. I got a nice brushed nickel faucet from Menard’s that almost matches the kitchen faucet
And I took the screen door to a glass shop where they cut a pice of lexan and screwed it over the screen. Now we can have the door open when the AC is on
Finally I splurged on a set of Big Foot leveling jacks and got rid of my ramps and collection of lumber pieces.
Happy trails

This will be our 4th season with our 27gb. We bought it for the same reasons you did. We do a lot of destination trips staying a night here and there on our way to our destinations. We have had it down south and out west to the National Parks. After driving most of the day it is great to just pull in, and plug in, done. Another reason we bought it is it does not have a lot of extras. I enjoy doing the adds and mods myself.

27qb
We have 2015 27qb and absolutely love it. I use the drawer under the stove for silverware and cooking utensils and some odds and ends. Had to put a different lock on as the one it came with was not strong enough and kept coming open when driving. (hook and eye on outside). I use the oven for storing bread and chips. They do not get smashed there. The cabinet above the sink is the plates, bowls and glasses. I got a wine box with the dividers to hold glasses and cups.Cut is down to about 5" tall. I use the cabinet above the dinette for the food and larger bowls. We do not use the over cab bed. Instead we took out the removable piece and stored it in the garage and use that overhead space for storing things, like computers, extra coats, and whatever.
Works for us. Hope you enjoy the rig.

The dealer installed the Equalizer Stabilization System ( It was supposed to be installed at the factory, but they “forgot”) Works well. Also look at the fantastic fans or similar for ventilation. Any chance you have a pic of the stabilizers and how they are mounted? I agree with the rocking and rolling, and we are considering putting stabilizers in, but would like to see where they are mounted on the Chevy.
Thanks!

I think he meant stabilizers/levelers not suspension and steering stabilizers. My question is, are stabilizers standard on the 27qb now? Also would like to see how the stabilizers are mounted. I have used old style screw jacks under the rear bumper if we are staying in one place for more than a day.
