Emergency start button

I have a Concord, which came with the start button. My battery to the chassis was low and wouldnít crank the engine. I pressed the button and tried to start the engine and zip, didnít do anything. My question is do you have to hold that button in for awhile before trying to crank the engine, if so how long do you press it before trying to crank the engine? Or could I assume it must go through a solenoid, if so can anyone tell me where itís located? I appreciate any explanation on the use, never had to use it before.

Have to hold the switch on while cranking the engine.
Do you hear the solenoid click under the hood?

Like Trksr said....If yours is a momentary switch like mine, you have to hold the switch down with one hand, while you turn the ignition key with the other hand.

Let us know if it gets you going.

The solenoid I hear is located in the house battery box, I think it then goís to a buss bar in the engine compartment. Then to the plus side of the battery as far as I can trace by looking. There are 2 wires connected to the solenoid, so I should measure 12 v on top and when you press the button 12 v at the bottom correct? When you press the switch?

Yes, it finally started but very sluggish, I put my external charger on it over night, this morning it read 100% charged. It started right up, but I still need to investigate more. Thanks to you and everyone else, it was the first time I tried to use it, you know they tell you during your PDI , just press and hold the button, as you crank, but it did nothing. Itís a good feature to have but you need to be able to work it. I have nothing in my manual about it at all.
