Fan running desperate for some quick help please

We have my daughter's 2011 Coachmen Freelander 27qb for 6-7 months testng to see if we want to purchase our own RV. We are new at taking care of a RV and the info we were given didn't help much (here's the books).

Over Christmas we plugged in the RV and let family sleep in it. The heater was turned on and we discovered yesterday that the heater had never been turned off. We unplugged it from the house current approx the 30th.

Never heard any noise from the RV until yesterday when the heater was turned off. Problem now is that a fan is running and blowing air and we don't know how to make it stop.

Here is a link to a picture on Coachmenrv.com. Looking at the picture the fan and air blowing is coming from the left side of the door where an arrow looking thing is pointing.
Freelander - Coachmen RV

Have also attached a picture of the section. Not sure what this is, exhaust for something? Today it is so loud I can hear it going from in the house with door shut, it goes off and on.
I'd sure appreciate any help on turning this off and finding out what it is. Thanks...

A picture of your thermostat might help, but will assume you have a fan, A/C and heat button. There is also a fan button that has a low, high and auto setting. By setting the fan button to auto the furnace should work properly. If it is set to either hi or low, the fan will run all the time. When the furnace is switched on, the fan will keep running unless you have it set to auto. If the furnace has been on all this time, you might be out of propane too. Most RV'ers use an electric space heater to avoid using their propane. Hope this helps.

Exclamation The fan is still running, please help...

I am back, hoping Lloyd can help or others so we can turn this thing off tonight.

Pict of thermostat attached, system is set to off, fan is on auto and the hi/lo switch is set to hi and temp set at 40*. If we switch it to heat it heats up and turns on.

There is a dial inside the rv next to the bottom step, our son-in-law said to never turn it off but didn't tell us what it was for. We did turn it off to see if it would stop the fan but it did not. Pict of dial attached.

Attached another pict of dial and a vent next to it, air is blowing out of the vent as well as the outside vent.

RV is still plugged in to 110 house and if it's unplugged the fan still goes. Propane tank was full, but we don't really care at this point. Just want to turn the fan off.

The switch by the vent looks to be a battery disconnect switch.

Turbs, when the rv is parked and not in use should that switch be in the off position?

Husband says if he disconnects 110 and turns that switch off the fan stops. But... that doesn't really say what the problem is. It never did it before even with the switch on.

Thx

Agreed.
Set the on/auto to on.
Set AC/heat to off.
Why not turn off the battery?

I would unplug the 110 power and turn off/disconnect the battery.

LinDan,
When the fan is running with the thermostat set exactly like the picture
posted above, is there air (hot or cold) coming out of the heat ducts?
FYI, The round switch IS your house battery disconnect.

FordIdaho we did as you said and yes the fan went off as well as lites, etc.
But when we have family stay over we turn everything back on to have lites the fan blows 24/7 even when the heat/ac switch is off.
Like I said before, this has never happened before. Do you think the thermo is broke?

Could be.
I would put a multimeter on it.

I have done nothing yet.

The furnace is 12 volts and you can pull the fuse in the distribution center.. Same as an automotive fuse and the panel should be labelled. That way at least you can use the electrical system, while you get er fixed.

many of us replace that crappy Dometic analog thermo, with a digital one, such as a Hunter or Honeywell thermo.

LinDan,
You have some good responses and a direction to head in. The only thing I would add is to leave the coach plugged in to 110v with the battery disconnect on until your house batts are fully charged then turn the disconnect switch off so the vampires don't kill your batts.
Good luck with the fix and please do post what you find to be the causal factor.

It might be a defective thermostat. Being an analog thermostat with mechanical switches, there might be a defective/dirty/oxidized switch. Try moving each switch back and forth several times real fast. If this should correct the problem, a new (hopefully digital) thermostat may be called for.

Here is my suggestion for what it's worth. Your Screen name says your location is So Cal., if you would care to narrow down your location maybe a member here would be willing to stop by and give you a refresher course on how things work, where various controls are located, and share a few time learned educational experiences with you. Most RV folks are more then welcome to help one another out.
Just a thought,

If you turn the propane on and bump the thermostat up to about 70: does the heat come on? If it does, flip the furnace switch from off to furnace then back to off. Turn the thermostat back down all the way. The heater will run until cool down then should turn off. If it doesn't, bad thermostat switch. Pull fuse to turn off and have the thermostat fixed or replace. There are several threads on the forum replacing the thermostats with digital ones from Home Depot.
