We received a solar panel as a Christmas present and of course the instructions and detail are lacking. Wondering what adaptors and sources are required to plug directly into the solar ready port? Is there anything else required. I assume the converter is already dealt with in the electrical workings of the RV
The “ solar ready “ receptical is connected directly to the house battery under the step. There is no controller in the circuitry .
If you are going to use a non mounted panel You should get get a 20 amp controller and the male plug to match up. Simple hookup.
I have a 20cb with 3x100 panels on the roof. Ran the wiring down behind the microwave and mounted the controller On the microwave side wall over the steps. Then took the wire down in the corner and under the steps to the batteries.
My rig is a 2016 /2017. There was a widespread factory miswiring that did not allow the house battery to be charged by the vehicle alternator .The Heavy gage wire that runs from the 3 lug terminal on The Side of the the driver seat base over to the house battery solenoid under the step was connected to a dead terminal. The fix was to move it to the 12 volt hot terminal. Solenoid was pulling in when engine started but there was no charging voltage coming over.
