Good day Forum fans, Sorry for the long post - tried to add all the info I could to kick start this thread.

I need advice this morning from our forum friends...

Issue: Hauling our RadPower Electric Bikes while towing our toad using the PaddyWagon. This is our nickname for the Leprechaun.

Specifications/constraints:

a. Hollowywood Rack (2" hitch only) for bikes =100 lbs,
b. Bikes (2 ea.) =100 lbs each, = 200 lbs combined,
c. Coach rear bumper max allowed weight = 150 lbs.
d. Equinox (toad) 1 1/4" hitch max weight ~ 400 lbs,
e. Bikes will not fit thru door to haul inside coach.
f. I don't want to haul them at the front of the PaddyWagon (motorcoach front)

1. We have a blue ox 4 wheels down towing system for the toad and the rear bumper and hitch would have been ideal but only a 1.25" hitch.

2. Anybody seen any creative hitch setups out there?

3. Anybody know if there are aftermarket combo numbers offered for these scenarios?

4. Maybe replace the rear bumper (the thin walled thingy that houses a sewer hose if needed, I don't use it for that.

Appreciate any insight, experience or thoughts.

I have two lightweight bikes, around 40 pounds each, so my solutions may not work for you. However, using a dual hitch receiver extension, I’m able to haul the bikes on a rack at the rear of my E-450 motorhome and still attach a Ford Fiesta towed 4 down.

Another method I use, when towing a cargo trailer, is to put the bikes on a rack on the front of the motorhome, using a 2 inch front receiver. My E-450 normally has only 4000 pounds on the front axle, which is rated for 5000 pounds, so adding the weight up front is a good use of the motorhome’s carrying capacity. However, you already stated that you do not want the bikes up front. You have a long class C that probably runs near the maximum rear axle rating as it is.

Is the Equinox receiver a factory unit? Can you install a 2 inch receiver on the toad?

research Front Hitches. you could than mount bikes out front.

We tow the DWs Miata behind our class C. I installed a hitch on the Miata and hang our bikes off the back of it. Have several thousand miles on that combo and it works fine.

If the Equinox hitch can handle 400# and the bikes and rack weigh 300#, you could hang them off the back of the Chevy.
