Leprechaun Back-up Camera Question

New 2022 319MB - has anyone figured out how to turn the backup camera on, so that you can monitor a vehicle being towed? I cannot find anything in the settings that does anything to adjust the cameras.

Not even sure what make/model this dash unit is, as it just says “Chameleon” on it….

TYIA for any assistance!

There should be a menu button just above the screen, push the menu button, then scroll over to the camera icon, and push that......

From the Sources screen on the headunit, select the icon that I have shown in the red square in the attached picture.

I have a completely different radio than that in mine. Those menu choices don’t exist on my unit. I may mount a second camera and screen, just for monitoring the toad.

Didn't you get a manual for it? If not, I would call Coachmen for it. Mine is a Jensen and came with a manual.

No manual. Downloaded “manual” is a one-page, basically useless document. The radio is incredibly low quality….

Ours says "Advent" when it turns on. Not sure if that's the manufacturer or the model. If yours is the Advent, tap the SRC icon in the upper left corner when the unit has booted up. Then look in the lower right corner and tap Next. You should see an icon for camera.

Our 2022 319MB came with a Concept XL10 radio. To say it is low quality is truly an understatement. I've spoken with both Coachmen and the radio manufacturer and there is no way to use it as an observation camera. The only way that I've gotten it to work is to turn on the emergency flashers, which is not a good solution.

I'm planning on replacing it soon.

Mine came with a Jensen, and I use the back camera all the time. It has that feature.

Our 311 is the same as jonwisconsin's is a Jensen, hit menu, scroll to to camera and there the our car is. Keep it on while towing or except when the DW change my radio station.

It’s not a Jensen. Apparently Coachmen discontinued using Jensen, and switched to the much crappier Chameleon during the 2022 run. I’ve got a auto sound/video tech looking for a suitable and affordable replacement for me.

Just for information I have a Rear View Safety hard wired system and have had nothing but trouble with it. The connectors are fagile and I'm on my second bad multiplexer. I now have to find a replacement connector and a multiplexer.

FYI, my local audio guy recommended replacing the IMHO pointless rearview mirror on the windshield with one that can display camera images - Voyager VOM74MM. The one he intends to use supports 3 cameras and will be set to display the rear observation camera at all times. So this will be a very natural experience.

But if the turn signal is turned on, the image will be replaced by the appropriate side camera.

Sounds like a good solution but I have not seen it yet so I cannot confirm that the above works properly. Will update this post after it has been installed in late July.

Can you supply a link for this rear-view mirror monitor?

https://www.rvcams.com/p/91/VOM74MM.html

I used a car audio installer in Merrimack, NH and I don't know what other components he used. I asked him to install it somewhat like the radio is configured, where the mirror displays the rear observation normally, and then the right or left side cameras if the turn signal is on. But I'm going back have him rewire it to only and always show the rear camera. The side cameras will still be displayed in the radio.

This doesn't relate the rear camera, but I also had him replace the radio with a Sony ES 10.1 receiver (XAV-9500ES - https://www.abt.com/Sony-Mobile-ES-1.../p/170346.html) since, IMHO, the supplied unit is a POS.
