Thanks, Jon. I’d appreciate the photo! And, enjoy your Texas Winter!

Sorry, I didn't see this till now. I was probably prepping for my trip, and then I was gone for a month on a 3500 mile trip.
The photo on the right shows that I slotted and crimped the hub cap so that it can be removed without someone first having to remove the crossfire system through the significantly smaller oval holes in the hubcap. I felt that is important because sooner or later I'll need tire service, and possibly while on the road.
The photo on the left is from about 10' or so, and how it looks from that distance.
Unless looking up close, the most noticeable thing you see is the hoses and Crossfire unit itself rather than how it's mounted.
I'm really glad I installed this system.

That's the main reason I insisting on mounting them to the center cap in a manner where the crossfire unit is as close to the axle as possible. The Crossfire seems to be enough of a significant weight so I wanted it centered.
I had to use a spacer and a longer bolt as the axle flange isn't flat.
I didn't want that weight swinging around the outside of the center cap with the cheap wheel simulators that are on mine. They seem paper thin.

Jon - I'd be interested in what they put on to help seal that space on the rear slide. For now, I stuff some steel wool in to keep the cold & possible critters out. It's not a huge space but you can sure see a good bit of light on each side of the bed.

We've winterized and covered the MH. Good thing as we are at 16* right now with the high of the day already behind us. The end of our season got cut short. I had a torn retina and end up with 2 surgeries. Bummer of an end but at least we had a really good first season with the 311fs & lots of trips out! We did a lot of upgrades but there are always more on the list for next year!
Yikes! I hope you don't lose too much sight, and recover quickly.

n1acguy - thank you! I’m to have frequent checks for 18 months so anything further is caught quickly. At this point my vision is quit good so I’m happy. But I’m telling everyone to get to a retina dr ASAP if you start getting flashing lights or sudden blurriness!

Here is a better photo. I wasn't sure if the site would post high resolution, but it seems it will.
The photo shows more detail than you would see with the naked eye. The scratches on the edge of the hubcap were apparently from being slid around before being installed. You don't really see them, but the photo amplifies the scratches and dirt.
I put vinyl tubing around the hoses where they pass trough the wheel slots because the hubcap edges are really sharp, and rubbing isn't good anyway.
I used the base of a 1/2" spring nut https://www.homedepot.com/p/Superstr...G-10/202443274 as a spacer behind the bracket, and used a longer bolt. The bolts were a little hard to find because they're 7/16-14 grade 8, and they're not real popular, but you should be able to find them at a good auto parts store.

Doxies, here is a photo you asked for, of what the dealer installled. It works very well when the slide is open. I don't know if this is what you need in yours.

Doxies, sorry for the delay in responding to your question. Yes, it is flexible material.

That's where our air leak is at too. Like I said earlier I can see light coming in through there.

Nice job on the install. We drove 3000 miles or so with ours on the hub caps with no problem. They are nice to have easy to keep an eye on your tire pressure. I check them every time I fill up or stop.

crossfire valve stem system

Have you installed yours yet? I think they are close enough to center that it doesn't throw the balance off. At least I haven't felt any vibration or see any tire wear.

Air leak around slide out.

I posted earlier about the air leak on our bedroom slide out. And Jon had posted what the dealer did to fix it. Here are the pictures of what ours looks like. You can see light coming through.

nvs4602, although mine were not as bad as yours, they were in the same place. What the dealer installed in mine took care of it.

Is the slide out or in that shows the light?

The light showing on those photos looks pretty much the same as in ours with the slide out. Installing something similar to what Jon has is on our list for when the cover comes off next Spring.

Complete Newbie!
We just bought our very first RV-a Coachmen Leprechaun, 311FS. It’s something I’ve dreamed of for years, and at 73 it’s now or never! I spend hours reading this forum trying to learn things. I appreciate everyone’s comments posted here, I’m learning a lot. Nice to “meet” all of you!

Welcome aboard! Yes, read all of our comments of the issues that we have experienced and fixed. Be ready, you'll see them. It is a nice motorhome and is perfect for two adults plus the occasional family member to come along.

Danijoh69 - Welcome! We bought our 311fs in September 2019 so we have one full year under our belt. While we've had trailers, this is our first motorhome and we love our choice! You've come to the right place to get answers to questions you are sure to have! If nothing else, 2020 has reinforced that now or never philosophy! Have fun!
