Need new batteries

I have 4, 6 volt batteries in my coach and I'm thinking about changing to 2, 12 volt AGM 100ah batteries. We don't boon-dock and I always have the coach plugged in when in storage.
If I use two 12 volt parallel wired I would be getting 200ah. Anyone else do this or have any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

Im not a battery expert but it does sound reasonable in theory. given your style of RVing the change will reduce weight and maintenance

AGM batteries have different charging needs... you might want to research that a bit

If not boondocking I'd just purchase a couple of 12 volt marine DEEP CYCLE batteries. Not the dual purpose marine starting/deep cycle.

Less expensive than the AGM's, maintenance free design so water use should be minimal.

No worries about changing converter, etc. Without freequent deep cycling they'll last a long time for less money.

Interstate makes a good, durable, battery that's perfect for someone that doesn't boondock often yet performs well when they do. AGM's will cost a minimum of 50% more.

Just curious... if the OP is plugged in "all the time", wouldn't a single 12V battery do the job. Maybe even a cheap dual purpose marine battery? They would have power to the safety breakaway brake during travel, and be using shore power when camping and in storage.

TitanMike is correct.

I know the OP stated he never boondocks, but there may come a time when he needs heat overnight, or an extra boost to operate slides, and one battery won't do it.

For maybe half the price of an Interstate, I'd go to Walmart. Several times their batteries have been very highly rated. Because they sell so many, their batteries always come out on top for "freshest" when new.

I had my first motorhome in for service a few years back. The mechanic/foreman called me to say I needed two new house deep cycle batteries. He then dropped his voice to tell me to go to Walmart, the group size I needed, and bring them to the shop and he'd install them. He was speaking quietly because his office was next to the shop owners and he told me the owner would want to put Interstates in at more than double than the Walmart batteries.
