Newbie question

We have a 319dsf with a 2 way refrigerator.. We are confused about electric and DC. When we did our walk through they said that everything in the motorhome essentially runs off battery power even when connected to an electric power source. If we disconnect our electric source will the refrigerator run off the battery or switch to gas.

Thanks!

2 way refrigerator would run off gas if not connected to shore power.

That is not true. Your house battery(s) power your 12v system only. When you plug into shore power (120v) your converter turns some if that power into 12v to power your 12v system and the charger to recharge your batteries. Your converter puts out more than enough 12v to run your lights, fans, 12v circuit in your fridge (ignitor and control card), water heater ignitor, furnace, 12v TV & Stereo, water pump etc.
The rest of the electrical system; the Air Conditioner, 120v side of the fridge, 120v side of the water heater, microwave and TV run off the shore power only and will not work unless you have an inverter connected to those batteries or run your generator to make your own juice. (not gonna get into solar now) Hope this helps...
