Staining from RV windshield cover

Our windshield cover on a Freelander 20cb micro is showing some staining where the magnets hold the cover. Has anybody experienced this and do you have a remedy?

Hi Maurice,

Are they rust stains from the ferrous magnets? If so, can the paint be more safely isolated by placing a plastic sandwich bag, or other small, thin piece of plastic wrap, between the cover and paint?

If it were to be rust, a dab of vinegar water might safely remove the stain.

Thanks,
Wes

The magnets are contained inside the cover fabric . I will try a little vinegar to test.

Once you have it cleaned make sure you wax it good. Those covers hold moisture behind them just like the old bra covers for a car. If you notice no one uses them anymore because they did more damage then good. If you leave yours on for long periods at a time you should wash and wax the areas it covers more often.
