Thank you Coachmen Factory Service

Just needed to publicly thank Bob, Mike and Mike at the Coachmen factory for restoring our excitement in our Sportscoach CC 385ds. Having purchased our coach in Illinois, returning home to Michigan for a short period and then heading to Florida for the season it was very difficult to find a dedicated dealer to handle the initial warranty items that were experienced. The closest dealer did more harm than good and after two trips, our list grew from less than a dozen to more than two dozen.

By the time we returned to Michigan a few more items were added to the list. At this point we felt it best to take the coach back to the factory. After discussing the extent of repairs with Bob, we were able to schedule some work before our cross country trip to California for our daughter's wedding with the balance to be completed upon our return.

After the initial factory visit, more items were discovered by the service department. The most important ones were repaired after which we set off on our trip which went well and was without any incidents. Upon our return the coach was back at Coachmen.

After digging into the remaining items, more issues were discovered by the factory bringing our list to just under 4 dozen. Without going into detail, the items ranged from being very minor and trivial to very serious. Some failures actually occurred while a tech was in the process of operating systems. Some items appeared to be due to the selling dealer's care of the coach before it was sold, others were poor workmanship and improper repairs by the dealer in Florida, a few were third party equipment failures and others were original design and factory assemblage problems.

During the process Bob, the service manager, was open, honest, fair and continually in contact with us regarding what was happening. While we were less than happy with the number of items that were in need of attention we are extremely happy with the outcome and feel our coach is probably better than new after the service techs were done.

Thanks to Bob, Mike and Mike, we are figuratively and literally "Happy Campers"

That's a lot of stuff to do but glad it all came out okay.

I often thought that if we had invested more dollars and bought a Coachmen DP we would have been much more satisfied and had fewer problems. I guess that's not the case since even though we had a number of problems (all fixed now) we didn't have as many as you did.

Enjoy the coach and have fun.

Mechanically, the Freightliner chassis hasn't missed a beat. There were some extenuating circumstances regarding our experience with the dealer in Florida that if they hadn't occurred wouldn't have led us to where we ended up.

I'm still happy and proud to have met Bob J at Coachmen a Factory Service. He is a gem! And as I told my neighbor, we have as much fun as he does for almost half the price.
