Tow vehicle behind a Mirada

Trying to decide if we want to pull a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2 door or a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. Don't know if our 2011 Mirada will be able to handle either one. We want to flat tow.

For starters, please list the year and the specific unit you have.

The tow ratings should be in your owner's manual or documented somewhere.

Most motorhomes have tow ratings ranging from 2,000#-5,000#. Some of the larger DPs and Super C have much more.

If you have the right hitch, you should be ok. If you have a 5,000#, you might be pushing it.

I googled 2011 Mirada and the towing capacity for the 34BH model is 4000 lbs.

I have just about the same Mirada and tow a Suzuki Grand Vitara just fine. Don't even know it's there except on the hills. Specs say 4000 pounds, so check the weight of the Jeep products.

The Mirada has a 22K pound GVW (coach alone) and 26K pound GCVW (coach and toad). So the Mirada is limited to 4,000 pounds IF you are at GVW on the coach. I had mine weighed when we were loaded for travel - all supplies, tools, full of fuel, 1/3 fresh water, empty black and gray tanks, 3 people and a dog. I thought I would be close, but I am way under the GVW for the coach - 19,880 pounds. My Cherokee toad full of fuel weighed 4,260 pounds, so when added to the coach still only gives me 24,140. Still way under the 26K total.

If I decide to go to a heavier toad, I am still limited by the 5K receiver.

You best bet is to get weighed and hope that the Wranglers are under 5K pounds.
