Since my last posting we have had no new issues with our aviator and after looking at the new "aviator" I don't think I will be looking to move to a new one. We did purchase a new tow vehicle which is the Ram 1500 with Eco Diesel. While tow weights are a little tighter than I would like them to be (meaning I only have about a 150lbs of weight available after I get everything loaded) the mileage is great and I like the idea of the diesel. Hope to see some of you out on the roads one day.
Glad to hear your wife is recovering well. Many prayers for ya. Hope to see ya on the road.

Our friends bought a new Sleep Number with all the bells and whistles ($6000.00 if you can believe that) and gave us their old perfect condition bed for free. Couldn't pass that up!
Wow $6000.00 for a bed.

This trip was a pricey one we also did not have our trailer plug hooked correctly to the truck it drug on the road and we lost tail lights. Stopped at Camping world around Knoxville to get it fixed. Paying for labor can be a killer on the wallet! I am sure I would be a disgruntled RV owner if I wasn't able to do my own repairs. I must say even though I've had some little things go wrong, the trailer has stayed rock solid even after travailing over some very bad roads. When boondocking in South Dakota I drove over some frame-twisting cattle trails and in Wyoming I hit a section of road so rough it jolted the stove burners right out of their sockets! I was a little worried at first due to the different design of the Aviators as to how they would hold up but I'm now convinced they are very well built. Wish we could make it to Goshen but our camper is now at our seasonal site on Lake Superior for the rest of the season.

We love our camper no matter the problems. Just need to work out the bugs. We will attend the work shops at Goshen and learn more about the camper. And to sit on on fellow camper talks to hear and learn from their experiences. We have learned a lot from you and Black Hat. And reading fellow forums writers. this is a great site. Rivnut and us are following each other up. He has done a lot of research and we have both discovered we need new tires before the trip. I believe his tires were worse than ours, splitting and bulging. Ours are past the expiration date which I don't understand why there are 2011 tires on a 2013 TT. Same with the batteries we had. they were also 2011 batteries. we have learned from this experience. if we were to get rid on our Aviator which i doubt we will. We will look at the dates of certain parts on the camper and will and deal before signing.

Remember the Aviator were started in 2011, went to market in 2012 and sold as 2013s so that is why you have components older than the model year. I think this is fairly common for RVs.

Just replaced the awning motor and one bracket on our Carefree awning. I noticed the manufacture date on the motor was June 2011. Date on the new motor is June 2015, fresh out of the factory.
We adjusted the out limits to stop before it was out all the way. Don't really need it out all the way AND there is a lot less stress on the arms. Call it a $600 lesson learned! I will never turn off the automatic retract switch again. Those squall lines come up quick in my neck of the woods [East coast].

$6,000 for a BED?? Really?? Maybe a hospital bed, but RV?

Glad to hear the awning is fixed and back in operation. Believe or not, you can spend even more than that on a bed. Nowadays they heat, cool, vibrate and adjust up and down! We were the lucky recipients of our friends old sleep number bed that fits perfectly on the existing Aviator bed frame. It came with an extra soft foam top and it is so comfortable its tough to get out of bed!

Our Mattress is the first thing to replace after the tires. The mattress that came with is horrid. We leave Monday to prepare for our trip.

We are following Rivnut to Goshen. Stop at the Corvett museum had a nice lunch. Two Aviators driving together sure draws some attention.

Met with some corporate staff here. They are so glad that some Aviators are here. We are the first ones to come to a Goshen Rally. Rivnuts Electra and our Wright Flyer are parked together and we are getting lots of attention here. They said they will get right on our issues on Monday. Really really nice people and so organized. Very impressed. Hopefully we will leave here happy campers! LOL! Seriously they are going to see to it, we are taken care of. EXCITED!

Sorry for the late posting. But just got home after the Goshen Rally. I want to thank Bob and Cindy Bryne and Forest River and their employees for all the hard work they have done. And it was all so organized. This is truly an incredible company and they have me for life. We really enjoyed ourselves and was happy to make new friends. Thank you Susan Thornburg, Mike Stump and Dale for all you have done on our Aviator. We will love it again. We are happy campers once again.

We did the Corvette museum on our return from Goshen. Just had to see the cars that got totaled. Our favorite stopping place and the KOA is good.

BTW cjearle2 I think we met and sat at your table one day.

Later RJD

I want to reinforce Carol's KUDOs to the Goshen Rally. We enjoyed foods, ice cream, and the tours as well, but last not least the warranty work done for us.
Great Rally, see ya next year.
