I know I should know but don't. Want to check the oil. How does cover come off? Does generator slide out to work on?

We will be bundocking next week and will need generator. It has very few hours so we should be good.

Just want to check oil.

Also are these water cooled?

what make / model generator? what does the owners manual say?

It's an ONAN 5.5Kw. The cover just pulls off. Pull on the top and it will release then just lift up and off.

The cover pops off similar to motorcycle side panels. The unit does not slide out.

Once the cover is off, unscrew the oil fill cap, the dipstick is attached.

The generator needs to run two hours every month with at least half load (run 1 AC unit) to keep it running in tip-top shape. I learned this too late and now have carburetor issues.

This unit is air-cooled.
