2019 FR3 Blind Spot Camera

I left my passenger blind spot camera at a toll booth in West Virginia. After a lot of searching I found the exact replacement camera. Order it through https://www.rearviewsafety.com/. The model number is RVS-MV1. There is the the left or right. Select the 10 ft cable with the 5 pin connector. The switch box (located to the upper left of the radio is RVS-501N-3.

So how was the installation? I lost the same camera during a front tire blowout.

Sorry for the delay in answering, I wanted to actually install it before answering.

The first method I tried was to feed the camera wire up and tape it to the existing wire and then pull it through from inside. This would have worked except when the thickness of the connector got to the firewall it got stuck. Instead of going out and lining the wire up I just pulled harder breaking the old wiring. So then I ran an electricians snake from the outside to the inside. That worked and the whole thing took a half hour, even with the initial failure.

Don't bother with the nut and washers as the screw is not long enough, you attach the camera with silicone caulk.

I also rerouted the camera display to a 7 in monitor so that I don't loose the ability to view my GPS while making turns with my turn signals on. If you do this there is a setting on the Stereo to turn off the rear view camera, this keeps you from having to cut any wires.

The monitor keeps the rear view camera on the whole time and activates the side camera's much faster.

I haven't tried the new set up on the road but I think I will find the camera's much more useful.

Very good then. It’s been difficult to get part numbers from factory for this and some trim pieces damaged during the tire blowout. Thanks for the reply.

Did you have to do any touch up painting? If so did you get the paint from FR3 or a color code? Mine's a 2019, I'm not sure what year they switched to the cream color.

I need to fix the corner with a skim coat of bond-o and some paint.

its was a small area you can do it yourself. If your area is small, an you follow directions. get the base-coat, clear-coat, primer, cleaner, Spray can trigger
it looks factory fresh. They post clear instructions and great service.
