33DS Mod - Back Storage Locker

I have looked at the MODs thread and didn't see any pictures of what I'm thinking about.

Has anyone put in a shelf or slide in the Rear Passenger Side storage area underneath the bedroom slide..??

After getting back after a month on the road, including two "one week stays", I found that there is some wasted space for storage. I had things stacked up on top of each other and didn't like having to remove top items to get to the things below.

Has anyone done anything to add a storage option in this area..?? See the attached picture for the location I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance and Happy Travels to all..!!!

Same issue with my 33DS. I am looking to install slide cargo tray for the other storage area. But I have never seen any mods for FR3 Storage like you mention. I will watch this thread .

Sorry for the mess, this is how I made a shelf in the rear. This has been in there for 6 plus years and 50000 miles with no issues. As you can see I carry a lot of stuff and it never shifts.
Hope this helps and happy trails.

I created my shelf today. I found that I had a piece of 1/2" particle board sitting in my garage so that got me to thinking. I headed down to Lowe's and bought some aluminum angle in two different sizes.

The first being the front of the shelf at 1.5" x 1.5" angle and the second being the back of the shelf at 1/2" x 3/4" angle.

Since I'm not expecting a lot of weight, I felt that the smaller one in the back would be fine. I mounted it with four self tapping screws to the frame. I also wanted the larger angle in the front since it is only supported by two screws and I now have a lip so things won't slide off.

From there, I then had to work on the front angle for the shelf. I wanted to secure it to the vertical part of the frame so I had to make some adjustments with my saber saw and files to get it to fit within the frame.

In order to make sure the particle board was "secured" (even though I had to kind of lever it into position between the two angles), I drilled some holes in the front angle and for short wood screws.

Here are the pictures that I took. I still might add something vertical to hold things on the shelf but first I want to put things there (my dining room bed cushion, my manga shades, and my flag pole) and see how they do on our trip in August.

Let me know if you have any questions or want to see additional pictures.

My last pictures. After installing the shelf and talking to the Boss about putting in something vertically to hold my proposed items, our brainstorming led me to purchase a trunk net / holder.

Here is the one I selected from Amazon:

Here are the pictures after install, with my items behind the net, and finally with a couple of items between the net.

Took the idea from David and built my storage for my FR3. Instead of aluminum
I used 1/4" steel angle with square tube for support in the middle. I welded the angle in place,
Found some 3/4" plywood that a local business was tossing out, countersunk screwed it down and painted it black.
