After Market Motor Tunes

I did not want to hijack the other post so am starting this one. I am wondering if anyone has done an in depth comparison between the 5Star and the Ultra RV Tune systems. They both seem to have the same approach and both have great reputations for customer service. I was just about to order the 5Star because that is all I found in my search and was elated to find the V10 Tune thread by jjwvette. Lots of good info there.
Thanks

I ordered the UltraRv tuning system after doing some research and had a great reply from the company. I should receive it this week.

Howdy Mystery Machine, Will you please keep me posted on your results. Email me or pm me if you don't want to post it. I know I want to do one or the other, was leaning to the 5Star but that was only because I did not know of the UltraRv one. Thanks Again

Factory knows how to get the most, safely, out of their engine. Don't screw with what ain't broken.

With Respect, I disagree. The factory sells what they think most people will want with no idea what a selected few us need. I agree it is not broke, it just is not as right as it can and should be.

To add to Winddancer's reply, the factory isn't aware of how each chassis they build with be used. The chassis may be used as a delivery van, dump truck, motorhome, etc. Each of these types of vehicles may require a different engine set up.

Exactly. When I used to work for GM, I would be working at the proving grounds in AZ occasionally and walk into the ECU shop for one of the V8 engine groups and we would talk about the tuner people. They said that there would be no way they(tuners) would know about all the parameters that they knew about. What they said often happened is that the tuners would throw the ECU into a runsafe mode so that the engine wouldn't get damaged because certain sensors would go out of range. What often happened is that the engine would go super rich.

Thinking about a 5 star. How did you make out with yours?
