Another seat cover post

We have recovered the dinette seat backs (It was easier than we thought it would be)
Purchased and installed good seat covers for the dinette cushions.

Purchased and installed a good cover for the loveseat/reclining sofa bed.

Now.. We are looking for good seat covers for the captain chairs. I know some of yall out there have put seat covers on. I am looking for a long term solution other than having the seats professionally recovered.

Thanks!

I have a 2017 DS30 and the edge of the right dinette seat corner is flaking. Were your dinette covers custom or were you able to find ready made covers? Sure would be a great help if you could share your solution to this common material failure!

Thanks.

Wayne,

My wife and I recovered them.

1st, unscrew the pegs that are above the cushions, that hold the blinds down. Flip the blinds up to keep them out of the way.

2, lift straight up on the seat backs. All 3 of them will come out with no problem (should).

3, use batting to fill in the low spot where the lumbar and seat back are. We used a spray on glue from the local craft store. Let dry until the glue over spray is tacky.

4, recover the seat backs. the only tricky part was getting the corner folds (we have 2 in ours) to look good. we stapled the new material over the old, and the new batting. we used 5/16" staples to hold it all together. Make sure you don't cover the holes that the seat back reattaches to.

It really was that simple. We went with a grey color that turned out pretty well with the rest of the brown.

My wife ordered some covers for the seat cushions that are slip on, and closely match the colors.

I hope that helps!

Edit: Ours weren't just flaking.... they were peeling off and looked like hammered dog poop. Small pieces of plastic were everywhere after we got back from a log road trip. The loveseat and both front seats were also peeling apart.

Funny thing I'm looking to fix a torn back seat seam on my Dinette. It seems that the dinette only his wood on the side and back as noted in the picture so if you push off the top corner of the dinette it has only vinyl and foam. Results was a torn seam that we are trying to get fixed. It was in the shop for some unrelated warranty work and asked for a quote to repair it. They gave almost a $600 quote and admitted it would be a lot cheaper going to a shop because they'd have to have someone come to them to fix it. My DW who is pretty handy sewing and with a sewing machine has some thoughts on repairing it but my concern is though we are smarter, hopefully from not pushing off when getting up from the dinette other will not be and it will happen again so trying to figure out some permanent fix to avoid this from happening again. Any ideas or any places near me in Port Charlotte Fl. that would be recommended to fix this I'm all ears. I tried to post a picture or two but can't seem to get it to do it.
Thxs
