Atwood Air Commander A/C Unit

I have the Atwood Air Commander units in my 2017 FR3 32ds. My question is when I turn on the AC it cools down the coach and once it reaches the desired temp you can hear the condenser turn off but the fan continues to run. The condenser continues to cycle on and off to keep the coach at temperature but the fan never turns off. I have the thermostat set to Auto.

Is this normal? All other trailers I had previously the AC units and fans would turn off and cycle on and off to reach the desired temp.

That’s exactly how it works in my 2015 30DS. But switching the thermostat from auto when in the A/C mode to either high or low will allow the fan to shut off for short periods of time when set temperature is achieved.

On our 2019 FR3, the Atwood Air Commander fan stays on and cycles the compressor. Which is what we want, a steady sound level for sleeping. Auto seems to vary the fan speed, but I haven’t noticed the fan turn off. There is a timer to shut things off after a period of time. I would think the lack of an eco setting is a function of the thermostat.

On some thermostats these days you have to have the A/C set to Auto and the Fan set to Auto. Otherwise the fan never shuts off.

Noticed the same thing with our 2021 FR3 33DS. At the low fan speed, it's not terribly loud, but still annoying when trying to enjoy some TV.

Recently, we've kept the front AC off but kept the ducted bedroom AC on at high speed while also keeping the pocket door closed. Much quieter overall and the main area is still adequately cooled. It also allows us to cycle between both ACs rather than using the front one 90% of the time.
