Bathroom Odor

Up until yesterday there have been no odors in our 2016 30ds. It’s seems that there is urine odor coming from around the toilet. I checked the vent on the roof and it seems unobstructed. I also flushed the black water tank at the end of the trip as well as thoroughly cleaning in and around the bowl.

Any ideas or comments ?

Thanks,
Ed

If you have a Model 300 Dometic toilet that will probably be your problem. Look on the side of your toilet and if it is a Model 300 get the sn and call Dometic.

There are a ton of posts on this forum about defects with this toilet where it collects liquid between the bowl. I had a 300 and they replaced it.

It should be on a sticker on the side of your toilet. It has been a while but I think on right hand side. This might help... https://www.edometic.com/h.nsf/model...g_location.pdf

I’ve found it is a lot easier to stick your phone down there and take a pic instead of getting on your hands and knees and trying to read...lol

If it is all plastic it is a 300 and Dometic will replace it or let you upgrade at a reduced price.

If you are camping and need to get a little relief from the odor you can try what I did. Look in the back of the toilet and you will see an opening. I poured some tank deodorizer in that hole to reduce the odor. I don’t know what you use in your black tank but add some to that cavity and it may tone it down until you can get the unit replaced.

Thank you all, it is a plastic toilet and I really didn’t expect this one as I haven’t had one issue for 3 yrs. Once again the forum family came through. Will keep everyone appraised of my conversations w Dometic.

Is the upgraded model 310 a direct fit?

The plumbing will all line up but you just need to check your surrounding dimensions. You could ask Dometic that question.

Here is a link to their toilets. You can get the measurements from it...

Careful pulling the old one out. There is a cavity in the back that had old stinky urine in it when I pulled mine. I have a 2015 30DS and it was also about the 3yr mark. I went ro the 310. A little bigger as it is oval, but still plenty of room.

Can't believe as much as a rig like that costs FR would even consider installing a Dometic 300. My lower priced TT came with a 310.

Update: so I spoke w the people at the Dometic Toilet Division ( no pun). Very nice people who politely told me that they are sorry this happened to me but there is nothing they can do after the 2 yr Warr. I tried and failed now I have to buy a new toilet. I will look at the 310 and 320 as suggested. Thank you for confirming that these models will fit. If anyone has any advice on changing the bowl I would appreciate it as I’m a bit weary to change it myself. Thanks Ed

Changing the bowel

Don’t be put off by changing the bowel.
There are two bolts to in do and replace when the new one is on.
The water line is easy. It will fall into place. The old 300 lift up level amd place it into a garbage bag the take the bag out side keeping it level until it hits the dump. The 310 is a great up grade it sits back 2” and gives a little more room in the bathroom. It also flushes better different with holes all the way around the bowel. I got the one with the extra hand sprayer but only used it once.

I just changed out our Dometic 300 with the 310 no slam wood seat. Best mod I did so far in out 2019 Flagstaff Micro Lite. Simple 15 min job, lots of YouTube videos to watch before you tackle the easy job. You’ll be happy you upgraded!
