Bug screen
As we are heading west, from Ontario to Alaska this spring, I am worried about the bugs in the rad. Has anyone installed a bug screen? If so, I would appreciate how you installed it.
Thanks

I've been thinking about that myself. The front grill would let a medium size bird in.

Screen
That's been an ongoing conversation. I'd like to see some pictures of anyone that has fabricated a screen.

I have spoken to a gentleman that will make one for a good price. I will post a picture once it is done. There will be snaps on it.

I was thinking of using some stainless honeycomb sheeting (if I can find the right size), and see if I can fasten it to the inside of the opening. I agree that the opening is very inviting for bugs, birds, and rocks to smack into the ac condenser or the radiator. Something FR should have taken into consideration.

Nice, looks like there's a nice velcro seem running up the middle. Can the screen be ordered from your guy? Thinking we can probably get the snaps installed on the front grill.
Thanks for the pic.

Yes, it's can be ordered. He now has the model. It snaps on, there is a seam in the middle so you don't have to take it all off and it will protect the front and inside. Let me know if you want one and we can arrange it for you. I was quite impressed with its look.

John - Can you send me (or post here) the contact info for your screen maker? We just got our FR3 25ds a few weeks ago and we are interested in the screen. Also, how did you attach the other part of the snaps to your grill? Thanks.

Ditto on what the others requested. I would also like info on who you purchased your bug-screen from and the method of attachment. Thanks

I need one of these for my 25DS...
I'd like to get the info for one of these. I have the 25DS and , as others have stated, "What was Forest River thinking...".
The metal screen radiator protector looked good, but I think I like this idea better...

Metal screen does not restrict airflow. Ford is on record with Forest River stating not to block the grill openings with anything that will restrict the airflow as they have said the engine needs the airflow allowed by these openings. They mentioned possible voiding of warranty. That should probably be taken into consideration as a finer fabric has the potential to do that.

Hey, does it help get rid of the loud howling sound coming from the front end at low speeds ? And good to see another FR3 in Ontario!

Both are good solutions, but if I recall...
The wire screen was intended to stop rocks and road debris.
The mesh solution was to stop bugs.
Here's a though (don't want to cause a riot here)...
You probably need both!!! :-)
As far as the warranty, they'd probably void it in either one of these solutions. Not saying I know that, but wouldn't they look for any excuse? :-)
