Driver seat too tall- no adjustment

We just bought a 2018 fr3 30ds. I'm 5'9" and the drivers seat is very uncomfortable because it does not telescope up and down. I could not believe there wasn't adjustments. I'm average height, and seriously, my feet can't touch the ground. Does anyone know of an aftermarket seat bracket that could remedy it? My wife can't even attempt to drive it...

Does anyone know if they make telescoping ones for adjusting height. These are fixed but come in different heights.

If you look on that page they also sell a 4" tall 6 way power base (more money) this can be paired with th swivel base (say 3" or 5 1/4") then you would have the shorter height, say 3" + 4" from power base and it can extend up to 1 1/2" so as low as 7" as much as 8.5".

So far thats the best solution i can come up with. Wife went with the 7" fixed base for $50.

If you can weld you can just cut down the stock unit and reweld it also.

I keep looking at full power captains chairs, just not sure its worth the $2000+ it takes to replace the stock seats.

We have the same issues with a new GT5 36B5 we just bought, went on our maiden voyage this past week and we decided the passenger seat was maybe 3 inches at least too high and there is no adjustment. I'm planning on pulling the seat and taking the base to a friend who owns a welding shop to get a couple inches removed....I think that will be a good way to get it to be correct for her at least, my drivers seat is electrically adjustable and at the all the way down position, it is tolerable, the seats seem to be really comfortable, it's just height problem.
Just a suggestion.

Why then, did you buy the motorhome in the first place?

I swung by the dealership service center today and they are having their in house metal fabricator cut them down tomorrow. They said this is a common issue. It's still very surprising to me that an $80 k motor home doesn't have this feature...but I'm new to the RV lifestyle, so I guess I have a lot to learn. Thanks everyone who posted....your information and support was valuable.

Maybe like my wife, they didnt realize it until spending several hours driving it down the road.

Lucky for us its an easy fix. Your attitude is not so easily fixed.

I guess the companies who build RVs think all men and women are 6 foot 6 tall...pretty sure most women are 5'8 or less, of course some are tall but majority aren't...the seats should always have a height adjustment, it wouldn't be a problem if they did it during manufacture. I had a custom van back in 1974 where it had similar pedestal seat mounts, they just ran a pin through holes in the pipe that is the post and a smaller size slid up and down in maybe 3 sets of holes. I understand for safety they might think they should be solid but the fact that the drivers seat is adjustable voids that excuse. maybe like Harley Davidson, they are in the business of selling parts...

The worst seats ever... and the passenger seat is too close to the wall. Our arm rest is hard to move up and down because it rubs the wall so tight.. as for that terrible height I'm five 3 he's five 7 and neither of us can touch the floor... I use a stool and he built up the floor on the driver side under the brake and the gas peddle.. it's really hard to believe that a company who makes thousands of motorhomes can't figure out how to successfully install a seat...

Wow.... it really is something you don't realize til your legs go numb a few hours down the road... your attitude stinks ... but we won't worry about that cause what comes. Around goes around

Really folks??? A completely normal discussion about a real problem and some good solutions is degrading into a sniping match?

Come on! Take the high road and ignore the occasional un-helpful post please!

Did you not sit in the seats on a test drive before buying?

I know the pain.. I am 5' 7". My solution... I cut a 2X12 plank to 12" long and slid it under the floor mat. It is held in place by the floor mat and velcro strips. You can also adjust it fore and aft to better suit your personal attributes as compared to the placement of the gas and brake.

Do we know who FR buys the pedestal from? Or who makes the factory pedestal?

Of course they say in the seats before purchase... what they didn’t do was sit there for three or four hours to realize the seats are too dam high for humans

Since I did my little fix, I have done a few 4 to 6 hour drives with no problems. Now, if only I could get my wife to drive it too LOL!
