Entry Door Issue

Entry door not set right and takes a lot of force to close, especially from the inside. One day I will rip off the whole handle assembly from inside so much force I have to use to slam it.

The door hits frame on the bottom first, but basically the whole frame. It is not just the two screws on the bottom...

DW would like me to take care of this before any more mods are done so please help....

Take square to the opening corners and check that first. Just to see how far out it is

Actually,

I just took off the HIGH pressure gas door strut, and that was the issue. So much pressure on that p.o.s. it mangled the whole door out of wack.

Any low pressure strut I can replace it with???

No help here. I have not been down that path. I suspect you will have to research the specs if you find any. Factory must have used stronger than required part. That in itself is a shocker.

The strut I took off with part# SE200P-80 has 80.00lbs of force!!! No kidding

Here you can see that the SE200P comes in as 'low' as 20lbs, which would be AMPLE already.

Actually ideally I would reverse, and install a door swing CLOSER with temperatures in SFLA 90F+ most of the yr.

On a similar note does anyone deal with an annoying loud sqeak emanating from the door area? We have pushed and pulled and wiggled parts to locate the source without luck.

Thats insane. Did you get your RV second hand or was it like that from the factory.

This is the one we have (10 lb) and it works just fine along with my door stopper string on the top of the frame. I bet your going to have to go back to the gym after you change out your shock. No more beach bod for you!

KansasFR3, if your're replying to my door squeak problem, we did buy it used but only 3000 miles on it. We are going to explore possibility that the retracted steps could be the source of our consternation.

I was asking Dutch about his shock. We also got ours used, and during PDI, they replaced our shock with the 10 lb unit. It seems to be just right IMO.

But onto your door squeak issue. Is it while your driving or only when the stairs operate? If its the stairs while your moving, you could disconnect the motor and take a ratchet strap and strap all three steps together to see if it goes away. Then you would know if its just something loose confined to the steps or not. But it could be just your door step motor going out. Ours went out last xmas, about 15 month old unit all together. I'm not very optimist that it won't go out within another year. We'll see.

Crazy they came from the factory with that shock. Glad you got if figured out though.

80#?? That's seems very extreme. Our 2014 came with a 15# strut from the factory. We replaced it with a 10# because it was whipping open to fast (but only when our grandkids opened the door, lol). The 10# slowed it down. Much happier now.

I just positioned both anchor points 2" closer to the hinge on my 5er and it works great. It opens slower and even helps close the door when within about 6"-8" of being closed.

I've had issues with my door hinges and screws loosening up. In turn causing door closure problems. At the rally I had them remove all the screws and rivet the hinges to the frame.

I also find that locking the deadbolt while underway seems to keep rattles from emanating from the door. In addition to the peace of mind knowing the door won't pop open!

Lastly after replacing my door shock the door popped open so quickly that it bounced open putting unnecessary stress on the door, hinge and frame. so I added a nylon grab strap to the inside handle. When I release the latch from inside I grab the strap and easy the door out slowly.

At rally I noticed the door hinge has been redesigned. I took a pic of the display model new hinge and was told by a service tech this new split multiple tab design is more sturdy.

Yea, we always engage the dead bolt on our door while traveling down the road.

We have a 2016 Coachmen Mirada and the entry steps squeak when you drive down the road. they have replaced the screws that secure it to the floor but that is the only support for the steps. They squeak when you step on the step and the whole unit, which houses the coach batteries, moves when you do. We are trying to get the dealer to put some supports under there to beef it up a bit.... has anyone had any luck fixing this problem
