Entry Door Opening
I have a Forest River 2021 FR3 30DS. The issue I am having is the the entry door (30 inch) flies open and slams into awning struts if I loose grip on the door
I have the factory installed signature strut (20lbs) but was wondering if there may be a replace that would greatly slow down the speed of the door opening
Any insight would be appreciated

I had/have gas struts on both my RVs.
How far open does your strut allow the door to open?
Sounds like way past 90 degrees.
I used paracord to limit the door travel with the strut.

Door strap
I added a strap at the top of the door. It limits the amount of opening and doesn’t let the door hit the awning.
I can open the door, walk in, turn around and pull the strap to close the door. I also hold the strap to limit how fast it opens.

Check our Friction Hinges - I installed them on my 2019 FR3, works perfect and no more strut

I like the strap better because it stops the door and will not hit the awning arm. Also when closing the door you just reach out and pull the strap, you don’t have to step down to reach the handle to close the door or reach behind you while stepping up.

I installed Lippert friction hinge kit part # 202010269 on my door (2020 FR3 34DS) and I am very satisfied. Very easy to install and withstands 25 mph winds.

Our 2021 34 DS came with a strut that prevents the door from opening that far. Check with FR to see if they simply forgot to install yours. If that's the case, you can likely get it covered under warranty service at your local RV repair place (or DIY it).

I've received my Lippert hinge and was ready to install. Opened the door (2021 30DS) and lo and behold there's so many hinges on there already there's no room to add the Lippert. Do I need to drill out the rivets and remove one of the factory hinges? Had no idea there were so many on there.

NO. Per instruction, you placed them in between the current hinges at top, Middle, and Bottom. Easy installation. I recently did it myself and I also thought I needed to remove, I then read the instructions. Good luck and enjoy.

I read the instructions too but there isn't enough room between the 5 original hinges for the Lippert to fit.

2019 there was plenty of room,
Unless they changed the layout on the 2021 (which could be possible...) That's too bad....
