Sorry for delay in responding... I didn't see your ? Until today. Hopefully you've seen my later reply in this thread or others. I think this link will take you to one of my other posts... http://www.forestriverforums.com/for....html#poststop
Sorry for delay in replying... As I understand it, 2 6-volt deep cycle batteries will provide power for a much longer period of time than 2 standard 12-volt batteries. The battery dealer said to me... just feel the weight of a 6 volt vs. 12 volt battery. The extra batteries are in series with the existing batteries, so they are charged along with them. I have not worked on covering them - not sure a cover is really needed though - e.g., the chassis battery isn't covered. After 1 trip to Burning Man on miles of a dusty road, the batteries were covered with dust, but work fine - not pretty, but who cares? Here's a link to another post of mine: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for....html#poststop I'm thinking about solar, but so far haven't made the jump - that's probably another $800-1,000.
it is not secured; it is held in place by the weight of the dash and a small lip on the underside of the dash. The wedge doesn't move and we've driven over some very rough roads.
The intent was to make the wedge removable as a just in case, but it takes a couple of strong guys to lift the dash enough to get it out of there. I'm going to modify the wedge enough to fit a small sheet of super high density foam between the doghouse and the underside of the wedge to see if that will make an even better improvement.
Finally getting around to posting pics of our replacement shades. No more crooked pleated shades!! And, as when we replaced the front, passenger, and driver shades - loving these day/night shades. Next year, they will probably be standard in new FR3's haha.
Storage solution for pass thu on the 30 DS. I used a chrome wire shelf from Home Depot 48 inches wide. Built two racks front to back each 18 inches wide each. . Lined up the front and back shelves.
This gives me 2 shelfs plus the base floor gives me three levels of storage. Folding table on a shelf now. No more emptying out the whole bin just to get to the grille. Chairs and folded fishing rods fit nicely on the top shelf.
Have owned unit less than 10 days. I desire to install second Air unit. Where does one go to get Info/ saw where it is inexpensive. Reside in Indianapolis./ Bear
Hey I'm wondering about your barbecue mod I'd like to run a line from the propane to the compartment by the door so I can run the barbecue there. Do I need a low pressure for that and did you put a "t" on the main tank

Added hinges to boards under bench cushions for ease of getting in to the storage area.

Added shelving in large closet to hold containers for clothing,
Added shelving in smaller closet to be used as food pantry.
Added shelf in large rear bay for more storage.

Made wood panel for screen door. Mostly for looks
Have done many more things to the unit, changed to new headlights, CHF front and rear, etc. etc. Always coming up with something to make life easer..
30DS bedroom right side closet mod.
I found I didn't need all that hanging garment space so installed some hanging baskets and a shelf to place my suitcase or duffle bag on. i still have about 6 inches of hanging space to use.
I made our passenger console area out of the Perch system (Container Store or Amazon) using the 3M attachments, plus a magnetic cup holder for bigger cups. Working great and still gives lots of leg room!
We bought this folding table at a home goods store which has served us well for a year but I wanted something more permanent. So I ordered the ITC Sequoia table leg system including adding two cup holders. Works great and I'm happy with the results. Sequoiaâ„¢ Table Leg & Base System - ITC RV
I found these on Amazon. They are very attractive battery-powered sconces with settings for night time motion detection or on/off. We found the installed light under the cabinet is just too bright when we are turning in for the night. It's nice to have them come on automatically as you walk into the bedroom. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Added a paracord to the top of the door to prevent it from swinging out too hard and break ANOTHER shock. I've gone through two so far, and its getting to be a little $$...lol.
