FR3 used market pricing.

Hey all,

Been loving our 2014 DS25 since purchased new.

With 16000 miles on the odometer, itís time to sell. (going toward a truck mounted camper)

Since used pricing seems to vary considerably with location and there are few to choose from, can anyone comment on what they paid for a similar model on the used market?

If you want current prices for trade or resale go to NADA

Look at sites like RVT, RV Trader and get a sense of what similar year/mileage is listing for nationwide.

Also remember that the trade/tariff changes in past year have helped you out - as the MSRP on new builds has jumped significantly (10-20K), as well as the strong market for motorhomes due to COVID.

I bought the last 2018 FR3 on the lot for $82K with 400 miles on it in Dec 2018... at that point a used FR3 32DS was listed for 75K and I couldn't justify not paying 5K more for a new one (it had been lived in for a full year, 365 days of usage... nah.)

Now with 12K miles on it, I'd list in that same range I bought for based on what I'm seeing, 80-85K. Imagine that - owning a motorhome for 2 years and not losing anything on depreciation

I too am surprised at how significant new FR3s jumped to. 2021 models are easily $110-$120k.

Like you, I purchased the last 2018 on the lot in Nov 2018 for $78k. I am now listing it for the same price with 13,000 miles thrown on it through my trips. And this is based on reasearch.

Yeah, but if that's as a trade-in on a larger model, the difference between the two is bigger, now. A rising market benefits you if you're downsizing.

Brand new 2021 30DS at this place was nowhere near those prices. Ordered mine about 8 weeks ago. Still waiting to be built but prices were amazing at this place. I even sacrificed a 5k down payment to a huge motorhome seller in Texas to take the deal at RV Wholesalers.

If I sold it would just be a cash-out. 32DS is perfect for our family travels in this season of life

Hey all,

When we bought in late fall of 2014, our dealer was thrilled to see the unloved by buyers (salesmanís comment!) DS25 sold. They had heavily marked down the price - 10,000 less for a sale price of $52,000.

Knowing the baby boomers were then retiring at a high rate, it was obvious to me that Warren Buffet/Berkshire/Forest River was planning to ride this wave by jacking up prices.

Look at the retail prices now, they are close to double from the 2014 model year introduction of the FR3 line.

Our experience has been of little to no failures on the FR3 house, only Ford F53 chassis troubles ie AC compressor chunked and the rear sway bar mounting issue common to some 2012 F53 chassis (yes, I said 2012 - our so called 2014 was built on a 2012 chassis!).

No roof leaks, slide out gear box explosions, windshield cracks or any major system failures with the house equipment. OK just one, the dopey window shade motor gave up the ghost on our first trip, so I consider that a manufacture defect by an upstream vendor.

So kudos to FR, we are still very happy with the DS25.

So like Warren, we are happy to be riding the supply/demand wave and might actually have some equity to play with.

Although we are considering a pickup mounted camper, the value to us of just keeping it might make more sense than spending more at todayís inflated prices.

Thanks for your replies, this forum is great!

Just bought a 25ds w/10K miles, 2015 for 45K. Great shape. Fair deal IMO.
