FR3 water tank drain tube cap
The plug/cap for my 2016 FR30DS fresh water tank drain tube has gone missing. I have attempted to cap it with a PVC 1/2" cap. It fits, but no matter what I do to seal it (o ring or gasket), I still get a drip. Can someone check their drain tube and tell me what plugs the end?
Thanks,
Bill
PS: Hope to see you all at Goshen in August.

Ditch the cap
Hi Bill, Ditch the cap, which seems to already taken care of itself. I just modifed my 2018 304BS by removing the cap and replacing it with a 1/4 turn, threaded 1/2" PVC valve. Drains fast, and no cap to lose.

Makes sense, but I'll probably wind up with the same leak. Does the PVC valve have a gasket?

Teflon tape on tread, no leaks. my factory cap was leaking and I just picked her up last wednesday. You won't regret the valve.

Could be either, pic looked like 1/2, but yeah, 3/4 also. I found both valves at local hardware store.

Thanks for all the replies. I do have a 1/2 cap on now and it fits. I added an o ring over the threads and a washer in the cap and I still have a drip every several minutes. I'll add the Teflon tape next. BTW, it was the dealer that winterized my unit last season. I discovered the cap missing when de-winterizing this year.
Thanks to all.

Check out a 1/2" PVC valve if you get a chance. Sure beats having to worry about the cap. Have a good one !

Screen off the drain
I made a "cover" for the drain with a dome of window screen. It will keep out road debris and mud daubers that can plug them up

If the dealer did it, he should replace it. I believe it is a PEX type fitting so you should be able to get them in the hardware store in the PEX plumbing section. Just bring in the cap you have left to match it.

Screen cover
I added a 1/2" x 3/8" barbed fitting to the bottom of my valve and have a blk vinyl cap that goes over the end of the barbed end of the fitting. Did a similar mod on my old Jayco Jayfeather...9 years and never lost a cap.

That's exactly what I modified mine to. Added a 1/2" threaded x 3/8" barbed fitting to end and cap it with a blk vinyl cap to keep debris out of it. Drains fast and doesn't degrade like factory valves.

I agree, but they're 35 miles and 2 tolls down the road. It's not worth the cost to go back and I planned never to go back based upon some other issues.
