Frame mounted tire/wheel storage.

Un-impressed with the thought of a tire/wheel mounting topside of coach.
Having to put a cover and a lock not desirous compared with hidden storage underbody.
Anyone figure a way to accomplish OEM style underbody wheel storage on a FR3? Is there a Ford designed setup that can be added?

Spare Tire Mount

I have not found any suitable mounts from Ford or Aftermarket. Most research I have read indicates a DIY project. Did some quick measuring and looks like it would have to hang below the frame rails as the 19.5" tire assembly is to large to fit between the rails. I am now leaning toward the Curt 2" hitch mounted spare tire mount and put in my dinghy pick-up bed when towing.

I made my own set up the tire hangs below the frane 2 inches from the fuel tank and is supported from 2 . 1/2 inch all thread rod's welding between two 1 in. Square steel tubing supports I have a winch on the side of the frame rail with a cable run through the frame rail down through the center of the tire that pulls the tire up into place and then I bolt the tire to the all thread very safe very easy to use cost including the which was about $40 which is from a JetSki trailer or harbor freight

Thanks for the reply, although it does require some theater of the mind to truly understand.

Snap a photo with your iPhone, and post it up here for all to see - that would be great!

Please.

Thanks
