Front Grill Shield

Has anyone inserted a bug/rock shield for the front end of your fr3? The first thing that rocks and bug hit is the AC and I am a bit concerned. Any type of air flow restriction concerns???? Let me know thoughts... Thanks,DR

I asked our dealer about that as the radiator had some pretty good dings with only 600 miles on it. He informed me that Ford recommends not doing that due to restricted airflow. That said, I might put a heavier gauge wire mesh (1/2 inch or so) that allows nearly all the air to go through, but stops large stones/debris from coming through. I'm a little concerns about what's behind the grill getting damaged, too.

spicyrv, thanks for the information. I bet the dealer does not like it. I placed 1/4" screen mesh on the grill. I painted it black and it looks great. I don't know why FR does not do it from the start. I also placed window screening type material in front of the AC and rad. I can see where this could be a bit restricting? I may rethink it. It worked great this past month. We were gone for about three weeks. Lots of rocks and bugs caught prior to hitting the AC and rad.

Sounds like you got the problem under control. Let me know if you have any issues with the finer mesh in front of the ac and radiator. I agree, would be a good thing for FR to do out of the factory.
