Is anyone else having trouble with their generator shutting down and the code 36 indicates fuel? Try to restart it you have to continue to prime it. It takes a while to get it to stay running. It’s almost like it vapor locks.
Any help with be appreciated u
I had experienced somthing similar on my old coach. It turned out to be a failing fuel pump, for me. Also, check the inline fuel filter. You may get lucky and that can be the problem. (the fuel pump, was about $220 for parts, as I recall)
My parents have a Thor ACE that has done that. Or at least the cutting off and acting like it was vapor locked. Dont know what code it had. Theres will do it only if you are traveling in 90+ heat and have to stop and idle for a while. It has never done it while camping or while driving at speed. There gen is the smaller 4000 watt onan and is located towards the front of the motorhome. I think too much engine hear hits it at idle with the engine fans running. Thor offered to send them a new door for the outside of the motorhome that had a cutout in it and a boot that would direct outside air to the unit for cooling as this was apparently a know problem for them.
There's a thread on this, and the problem was caused because the generator wasn't getting enough air flow. Forest River now puts a vent on the generator bay door. I contacted them about 18 months ago and they sent me the vent kit for free, although I had to install it. Might be your solution?
What generator do you have? They used a 4000 and a 5.5. Some of the 4000's need outside air to keep them cool, the fix was to put a grill in the cabinet door to let cooler air in. The 5.5 gets its air from the bottom and the door vent won't help.
