Headlights

Does anyone know how to access/change out the headlights on the FR330DS? Did anyone receive any diagrams/info when the unit was purchased re the headlights?
Thanks

Open the front grill doors to gain access to the rear of the headlights.

We haven't used ours yet. Are they not bright enough? Will be checking into that.

They are so dim they are almost useless. Fog lights are better but blind on coming traffic.

Are you changing the headlights? If so what brand/ model are you using? Thanks for the guidance.

Driving lights

The “fog lights” on my 30DS are actually driving lights, HELLA/OPTILUX 2500 angel eyes (hlah 71010451).

Driving lights should have their hot spot 4” below the height of the lights as mounted on the RV when parked 25’ from a wall. Mine were shining in my second story widow when I brought it home ( and the FR3 is parked about 50 to 60 feet behind the house and 10’ to 12’ to the right! The factory uses the brackets supplied from HELLA so they can be adjusted.

I know the headlights are accessible from the engine compartment but how would you remove a bulb or adjusted them?

My plan for headlights.
Rigid industries led ad ons. They come in 3 inch square D series (a different model number) and these shorter wide ones. The SRQ series. They have different models, driving, fog, spot, and diffused.

I plan on mounting the SRQ driving model in the grille bottom slot so they are as close to the factory head as possible. On order as a Xmas shift to myself. Will let u know how they work after installed.

This kit is expensive considering we shouldn't have to augment a factory required item. But I feel worth it. They come with a "plug and play" harness and pre wired switch and relay.

Rigid Industries 91531 SRQ2 White Driving LED Light, (Set of 2)
Rigid Industries $352.

I have to get them adjusted at the local inspection station but I think they will solve the problem. Installation even with the plug n play harness was more work than I expected.

I tried to research the existing H3 lumens output to compare my new 3000 lumens to the old H3. I guess it descends on the wattage of the existing bulb..

up grade bulbs

I believe a 55w H3 bulb produces about 1300-1600 lumens
I am going to give these a try.

Have you had a chance to test your new headlight setup?
Got my upgraded H3 bulb in but with the holiday’s and the rain may take me some time to install and test

Yes. Tested the lights tonight. These are driving lights not fog lights. Here are some non scientific examples of before and after. These shots are of the factory headlights only and then the aux led lights only. A dramatic difference. Still need to be adjusted.

WOW

WOW, what a dramatic difference! I replaced one of the factor bulbs, with an upgraded one today now see if I can detect the difference. I also think I found the adjusting screw the for headlights, we will see after dark.....

I have one new bulb installed (driver side) and have left the original in the passenger side the new bulb is much whiter that is all I can tell you now. Due to the holidays, the flu, (for the past 3 days) and the 16-degree temperature along with a few inches of snow on the ground it may be a few weeks before I can get back at it. Both the headlights and driving lights are so out of adjustment I cannot compare the differences in the bulbs. Sorry
