Lowering the seats

At 5ft 7, I found the drivers seat a little uncomfortable, so I decided to change the seat post.
At 5 ft 4 the my wife wanted hers also lower. Our FR3 came with 10 in post, I bought 7.5 in post from rvsurplus, Elkhart IN. Easy to install, it took about 2 hours.

Looks like an easy mod. Being the cheapskate I am, I would have just cut 2-1/2" or 3" out of the stock ones and re-welded them. Saving the pcs so I could re-weld them back to stock when ready to trade.

Love this mod, and we need it too! Even with a BF who is 6', he wishes he could lower the seats. At 5'4" I can hardly reach the peddles, let alone my feet resting on the floor in the passenger seat!

My wife has the same problem, I put in a piece of styrofoam on the passenger's side with a carpet on top. It is perfect, her feet touches the floor...all is good.

Just ordered mine...

Thanks for the info. Just ordered one. $50 and $27.90 for shipping (ouch). Wife said she could make due with it the way it was, but that meant I should make the change. I'll save the old one for when I sell or trade in my FR3 DS25.

My wife was going to get some Garden Kneelers from the Dollar Store and glue them together. But a lowered seat will be perfect.

Wise man. You have figured out one of women's idiosyncrasies.

Torque setting

The nuts holding the four bolts per seat have nylon inserts. I didn't measure the torque when removing them, although I wish I had. I was easily able to loosen them with a 3/8 ratchet and 3/4 deep well socket.

If anyone has Ideas on what the torque should be, please share.

IF I remember...

Once I get my pedestal and change it out, I will try and remember to get that value. I hadn't even thought about that but it should be a good idea. I might have some new nylocks around the house and replace the. You might go to the drivers side and break one nut free with the torque wrench. Then you'd have the value...

Did you order sku#1169? If not what did you order so the bottom of the base aligned with the existing holes? Thanks for your help.

Yes, I ordered SKU # 1169 from RVSurplus. The base hole pattern is standard and aligned exactly with the existing holes. Remember to disconnect the seatbelt receiver and strap connection from the existing seat, before unbolting from the floor, I also used blue Loctite on the seatbelt bolt, but it probably isn't needed.

New pedestal is installed and the height is perfect, my feet now rest on the floor without cutting off circulation. Thanks for your help. Best regards
