No under bed storage?

We have a 2017 fr3 30ds and I am shocked there is no storage under the king bed. What is exactly under there? Can I open it up for some storage? Thanks all for your help!

I have a 2015 30DS. Although I’ve never tried, I don’t believe it’s accessible. I believe the rear pass thru storage takes up some of that area.

On my 2019 the bed is laying on a carpeted wooden frame that the bed sits on and slides. So it is one unit.
It too has occurred to me to add under-storage, and I think one could, but something tells me that it is not wise as adding some weight (the entire bed needs to slide) would negatively put strain on the slide motor.

If you plan to store sheets, pillows and such. It would work but may not be worth the cost/risk to remove everything & install struts just to store pillows & such.

Im still on the fence

In short, I do not think it interferes with anything its just a bed frame/box laying on the floor. Im waiting for someone else to do the mod

So I already replied to this once but I was out at the coach today and I thought I would take another look.
I have a 2015 30 but I don’t think the king bed layout would be different in other years. The raised bed platform that the mattress lays on and slides in and out on is indeed part of (top of) the huge pass though storage at the rear of the coach under the slide. It’s quite clear that the top of the storage on the passenger side matches the dimensions of the interior bed platform.
So cutting into the platform would only take you into your rear storage.Click image for larger version
