I had a scan gauge on our Forester, worked well but wanted more data easier.

Had a recommendation on another forum for the OBDLINK plus model. Installed earlier this year and works great.

Bluetooth connection to an app on my phone and can create your own dashboards etc for what you want to see.

Does a bunch of logging too that you can export from the phone as csv to look at all the data.

Multiple trip monitors that can be reset individually, miles to empty, etc.

The plus version comes with free addons that you can download for additional monitoring points and Ford is one of those so bunch extra for the v10.

Even plugged into my car and it recognized everything and let me monitor that if I want.

Can read codes and reset from the app as well.

I prefer to have a gauge with a display I can view anytime while driving. I started with a Scan Gauge and move up to an edge products Insight. More info on an easy to read display screen with the ability to add color warnings for out of range readings.

Yep, that is why I replaced my scan gauge as well.

This one ties to my phone so I can build dashboards color coded for when I want to know a value is past a setting etc.

My phone is placed on the front of the dash so I can see without another item on top

OBD II

Make sure you check which one that is. Some models you have to pay extra for the additional monitoring.

The one I added the pic of price includes the additional downloads for free.

They do have a couple models.

I think it was about $80 when I purchased.

Yeah - time to do the same in Ohio. Will be winterizing this weekend.

I've used a few OBD readers over the years with my Ford vehicles. For my F350, I used the Edge CTS and Edge CTS2 monitors as I wanted to keep real time monitoring of ECT, EOT, FICM output, fuel pressure, etc. But since moving to a new 6.7, I'm out of the routine monitoring business and I just enjoy the drive.

However, I still use and like FORScan especially for diagnostics and code reading. That tool not only allows me to change programming in my Ford vehicles but I can monitor all sorts of things. For example, my F150 recently had a periodic "skip" so on a long trip, I monitored each of the injectors for faults along with the spark for each cylinder to help determined the issue. Lots of good graphing and data to be had (for techno nerds like me). And best of all FORScan is free.

I use an ELM reader and Dash Command. I used it in my Excursion to
Monitor all the temps including the trans. However on my 2011 chassis (F53) I cannot get the trans temp pid even with the in app purchase of the specific model year. And that is what I really use it for.

I have trans temp through the one I’ve been discussing. We do have the E450 though so not sure if that would matter.

Yes it is. Not being familiar with the F53 chassis I’m not sure if there is a different transmission or not. Engine is still the same for sure.

I run Carista OBD II with wifi and not only full codes but also allows me to use my tablet or phone as a custom gauge readouts...

i usually show boost / trans temp / hp / torque / speed /rpm all in realtime. It even maps my travels and saves them. That function is also handy if you have other vehicles that like track time.
