Had a friend borrow the FR3 for a quick 2 night trip at a state park around the corner. Deer ran out in front of him in broad daylight today in a narrow 2 lane tree-lined road, body checked the front right corner and bounced.
A decent crack running along the corner of the camper and it popped the headlight out but I have it and it's fully intact, the whole unit just separated from the front bumper. The front grill popped open but I got it back shut. There's some hairline cracking on the body near the lower portion of windshield. And a slight crack at the very top of the washer fluid unit but high enough to not cause any issues or early drainage. Still drives fine. He's devastated and feels terrible, I'm glad it wasn't worse and that the deer didn't t-bone the entire side, or hit a slide, take out the windshield, etc...
1) I assume there's enough here to go ahead and file the $500 deductible to start repair process?
2) I assume that it's fileable even though I wasn't driving?
3) We have a 10 day trip to Michigan August 20-29 -- is it best to just slap some duct tape on this seam to prevent further feathering and get it taken care of when we get back? 3 weeks seems like a pipe dream turnaround from what I have experienced in the RV service world thus far....
4).... I assume they just repair the fiberglass and repaint and it's nothing excessive like replacing the entire front fiberglass?
5) Would you have concerns about driving with the fiberglass crack near the windshield?
Any other thoughts, suggestions, tips?
