Has anyone cleaned the spark arrestor on the Cummins Onan RV QC 5500 Generator? I have read the manual and crawled under the unit and the instructions do not make any sense. The manual said it should be cleaned every 50 hours.
Done it on my 4000. Bolt on the bottom of exhaust resonator. Just remove and run generator. May have to prode it a little with a small screw driver. Blew some carbon black junk out of it.
Got 2000+ hours currently on my genny runs like a top.
I did it at 50 and 100 then with every oil change. Ive only ever had a small amount of soot come out. But i do it every oil change even though we are rarely in a National Park camping. When we have ive done it right before the trip regardless of oil change.
