Replace Dometic 300 toilet

2020 FR3 30DS ... looking to replace my Dometic 300 with a Dometic 310. Anyone know if it is a direct replacement with the flange?
Part 2: Has anyone put a bidet attachment or seat on a Dometic 310?

I don't have an FR3, but I just replaced my 300 with the 310...
no issues whatsoever...

all connections , 2 bolts and one water inlet were exactly the same.

Total time was about 30 minutes and I took my time as it was a hot day.

I have a 2019 30DS. Changed the 300 over to a 310 with no issues. Everything matched - 2 bolts and 1 water line.

Check the measurements to wall

I recently replaced a 300 with a 310. Great improvement. However it was tight. As has been noted previously with these threads - check the Dometic spec sheet and measure your clearance with the existing toilet. Look at Dometic toilets on line and you will find the spec sheets.

If I remember correctly the "distance to the backwall from the mounting bolts" spec for the 300 is 8.5 inches. The 310 is 10 inches.

Hmmm.... I had 9.5 inches. But I had about an inch of clearance still behind the 300 to my wall. I went to an RV store and measured the 310 compared to my 300. The distance from front to back seemed identical. The base bolt space 'seemed' to be the same. So after much hand wringing I figured it would fit and ordered.

Well it did fit .....However, the 310 is tight against the backwall. No clearance whatsoever. So, even though the measurements seemed to be the same from the base to the back, there is obviously a difference between the 300 and the 310. Where I previously had free space, now there is none. The spec sheet must be pretty much correct.

( I wanted the 320 but that never would have fit as the required distance for a 320 is 11 inches)

Dometic 300 and 310 are pretty much same physical size and hook ups. 320 is a little bigger and needs more clearance from the back wall. In our Grey Wolf 23MK we replaced 300 with 310 and no installation issues. 320 wouldn’t have enough clearance in our TT

Why do you people keep giving dometic your money? They have a design issue with the 300 but yet they still get installed in RV's with this known issue 8 plus years later.

Switch brands and don't look back. Thetford deserves your business more than dometic does.

I traded my last trailer for a newer model and can say without regret, there is not a single dometic product installed in this new trailer.

Ya know, we have LOTS of Dometic equipment in our camper, Toilets, AC units, reefer and more. NONE of it has given us any troubles at all.

Our camper came with a 310 that we switched out to a 320 because we like the elongated seat.

We also installed a Brondell Swash 1400 Bidet Seat We LOVE both.

The 320 required a bit of modification at the rear to allow it to fit. There were several ways this cold be done, I used an angle grinder with a diamond blade to trim the rear of the toilet itself.,

The seat required a bit of modification to the rear of the toilet too. Same angle grinder and diamond blade took care of that as well.

Now with the Bidet seat installed none of that is visible at all

Replace the toilet

I replaced mine in my 2016 FR3 30DS. The 310 fit. It is slightly taller. 20 minute job.

That's great for you but I choose to do business with companies that care about the end user. Apparently dometic doesn't care because they are still selling defective toilets to Forest River after 8 years of issues that should have been recalled many years ago.

And Forest River is STILL buying them. Isnt that the fault of Forest River then?

You seem to be willing to blame only one party when in fact it takes two parties to create this issue.
Convenient thinking.

The bases on all 300 series toilets are identical.

The uppers change with the model.

So yes, the base is a direct replacement for 300 to either 310 or 320. The flange to wall distance, as has been mentioned, is different and should be checked.

Will add replaced the 300 with the ceramic 310 in my 25DS.

I will never have a platic one again. Great upgrade that should at least be an option.

Hi all,

Question about swapping toilets...
My wife wants an aqua magic style 2 toilet. Anyone use these? Are they good?
We currently have a dometic 300.
From reading here I need to measure the bolt holes to the wall and I guess I need to find out the diameter of the hole. Maybe the water line style? Anything else? Is there some sort of gasket to replace?
My rig is a 2018 fr3 30ds. She wants this done before the next trip, less than 2 weeks, so I need to order this asap.

Your current 300 only requires 8 1/2" to the rear wall. As you can see in the attachment of the rough in dimensions the AM ii requires 9 1/2". The hole is all the same, no worries there.

Take the caps off of the bolts at the bottom of your toilet and measure from the bolts to the wall. If you have 9 1/2" you are good to go. If not something has to be modified.

When you order the toilet I would highly recommend getting one with a hand sprayer attachment. DW will thank you because it makes cleaning the toilet so much easier each time you use it.

I looked at the Aqua-Magic® with a china bowl but I went with a Dometic 320.

The Aqua-Magic® water connection is half way up the back of the toilet. You will have to modify your water pipe to the toilet.

My Dometic 320 water connection on the bottom, same as the Dometic 300. The Dometic 320 was a simple install.

I have a 1996 Rexhall Aerbus and 2004 Sandpiper 32' toybox original owner ordered both new.
Both have Dometic products which I have had no issues except for Rexhall installed the toilet flange on carpet instead of tile flooring.
When the Aqua Magic failed I went with the Dometic 310, I also have the 310 in my Toybox, I LUV Dometic products.
Fridge, oven, burners still work just fine.
Eventually the flange cracked NOT the toilet on my recent trip, cut out the carpet so the toilet and flange sets on the plywood floor put a new rubber seal in the black tank that the new flange goes inside.

I've never been impressed with Thetford products BUT I will admit the Thetford toilet paper is pretty good for RV toilet paper.

Has any replaced there Dometic 300 with the 310 model on the Rockwood 2860BS? I know it's tight, but I'm checking to make sure that it will fit.

Finally decided on a Dometic 320 due to the elongated bowl. Also installed a bidet. Only issue on installing 320 was to remove the wood water line cover at the rear. No problem and all works really well ... at least my wife is very happy!
