Rubber Roof Ballooning

We are currently 2,000 miles into a 9,000 mile west coast trip through Canada and return by way of southern US to Michigan. Yesterday we noticed the first 2 to 4 feet of the rubber roof ballooning. I used duct along the front seal and both antennas thinking air was inflating the roof. We have a 2016 30DS with 35,000 miles. We would like to continue our trip and address the roof adhesive separation issue when we get home late October. Does anyone have recommendation of a temporary fix to the roof ballooning problem so we can complete our trip. Thank you. Jim Wiemels

You need to find the source of the air getting in under the membrain first. If it is the antenna remove it. To seal this spot use esternnabond rv tape and a. good rv seam sealer. We had the same thing happen on our 2016 30Ds. FR had to replace the whole roof but they were real good about it.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

I had the same issue. I taped every leading edge seam with eternabond, removed the antennae, and taped around the king jack antennae as well.

Forest River did not replace my roof. However, they did pay to have it repaired.

I had same problem last November at 7,000 miles. FR covered it under warranty but now at 25,000 miles, less than a year later it happened again. Now in the shop getting replaced. Rubber roofs should last 20 years! What’s going on!

This happened to me Friday while headed out on a trip.I started hearing wind noise. I stopped at a rest area and the roof above the passenger seat had ballooned. it also cracked the caulk seam between the roof and the front cap.I was able to get back home before it lifted all the way up.Last night it rained and there was a drip in the interior.I bought a tube of the leveler roof caulk and will apply it to the cracked seam today.
I wash the roof about once a month. What is interesting is this week before we left there was a small bubble about the size of an orange in the roof in that area.I pushed it down and it leveled out. When I stopped at the rest area and got on top the roof membrane had stretched in the wind.I pushed it back down and it stuck again. Appears the glue they used must be defective.
Calling forest River Monday to see what I should do. 2017 FR3 28DS 3700 miles.

FR really dropped the ball on this. Mine was out of warranty, and FR still covered teh cost of repair... Note, repair, not replacement.
