Shocks / Steer Stab Price Quote?
So I priced out front and rear Koni Shocks and Steer Stabilizer for my 2016 FR3.
The dealer quoted me $1150 for parts and $1000 labor. Can anyone let me know if this is a fair price that has had the work done.
Thanks
Ed

You may not get many responses because pricing is so subjective, I think I would check with dealers/RV repair shops in your area and compare prices.

The dealer will always charge more for parts. If you were to buy the parts elsewhere, you'll pay less. I paid, from PPL, $445.97 (#41-180) for the stabilizer, and $59.33 for the mounting kit (#F-119K2.5). I bought the Koni shocks from Shock Warehouse for $159.20/ea (#8805-1018).
These were the best prices I found at the time. I'd do some shopping around on the internet.
I installed the shocks myself. The stabilizer to install was around $300. It only takes about an hour and a half to install and a little extra time to road test and adjust. As said above, check out RV repair facilities for quotes. Dealers always charge too much.

Steering
I installed the super steer steering stabilizer at a cost of about 550.00. Then I took the 2016 FR3 30DS in for front end alignment and the tech had to do a final adjustment after he set the toein. Also installed a rear trac bar that made a lot of differance in how the rig handles when other vehicles approach you on 2 lane roads. The stock shocks seem to be just fine on our rig.
We now have 20,000 miles on our rig in one year and it handles real well. Good luck happy camping.

I paid over $600 for just the stabilizer installed so I think you are getting a fair deal.
EDIT: OOPS...I thought it was 1150 for the whole thing which was pretty good to me...but $1000 for install seems quite high.

Just had the Koni shocks installed at Camping World three weeks ago for $850 out the door. They have/had the shocks on sale buy 3 get one free. That was $200 right off the top.

I would agree the labor cost seems excessive.

Thanks all, I'm going to defer until I get more suitable quotes. The difference in repair facilities is pay the piper cause he's only 6 miles away or travel 2 1/2 hours.
Thanks again.

It seems replacing the shocks should be a do it your self project..? Or am l missing something that it should be done at the shop?

I just recently added a steering stabilizer to my 28DS. Found a couple of youtube videos and went at it. took me about 45 mins but that was mostly because of being OCD and having to look at the video again and again to get a "feel good" about whether or not I did it correct. Actual install time was probably less than a half hour.
I've also seen the videos on YT on shock replacement and it too does not look like anything I could not handle. I'm a bit "big" so most of the problem is getting into tight areas under there or just into weird positions to get at some of the bolts.

I would. Not replacing the bilsteins though, they're just fine for us.
I do want to add Sumos though...

I was considering Sumos, and the dealer recommended Koni's instead, I followed his advice, and I think they made a significant difference for a little over $800.00. Problem is, most improvements are subjective. I did the CHF , alignment 90psi, and I am happy. If I decide to spend another $1500 bucks I'll go for the Sumos.
