Shower Won't Drain - 2023 FR3 30DS

Hey fellow RVers,

Here's one for you from BC. This unit is new and the shower's never been used. Hooked up to city water. Kitchen and vanity sinks draining properly to grey tank.Shower won't drain. If I leave a small puddle just around the drain it'll drain in a half an hour. Nothing has ever gone down the shower drain since factory.

Does the shower plumbing have its own vent that might be blocked?

Is there a valve I'm unaware of?

Coach is level.

Thanks
Matt

Do you know what type shower drain you have?
Is it a traditional P-trap or the HepvO type?
If HepvO, it may be stuck shut. The HepvO trap has a duck-bill flapper that closes when nothing it passing through to keep out waste gas odors. They sometimes stick closed, especially when not used for long periods of time.

If so, maybe microwave some hot water boiling probably won't hurt and pour down the drain. Have had it work on pumps before that were stuck from no usage.

It's a hepvo type beneath the shower pan. There's a screw off cap to access it. I poured about 2 liters into the drain before it started to pool. So the issue must be after the hepvo?

Put a couple of gallons of water in the shower and use a toilet plunger over the shower drain. Mostly likely just trash in the drain line from construction debris.

If that doesn't clear the drain, remove the screw holding the strainer and have a go at it with a plumbers snake.

If it has the flapper type trap I would not recommend using a snake as
that will surely damage it.
I'd definitely try a plunger to get it open.
Mine sticks occasionally but I can always get it to drain by simply slapping my foot over the pooled up drain.

Long shot but on my 2019, the factory neglected to remove the drain cut out when they build the shower, they left the "trash" of the hole saw in the tank. It got stuck in the tank and had to be removed.
