Switching reverse lights to LED?

Has anyone upgraded their reverse lights to LED? My FR3 is a 2016 and uses bulbs. Is there any type of modification that needs to be incorporated before doing this?

For your model of FR3, are the backup lights a bulb, or are you planning on replacing an entire lighting unit?
For the amount of time my backup lights are on, I can survive with 1156 bulbs.
Besides.....can’t remember the last time I backed up when it was dark.

Yep, mine are bulbs.



Unfortunately, I do more than enough backing at night.

No mods needed for 1156 bulbs being changed to LED.....just more money in your wallet at the checkout stand.

If you go to your local truck parts store you should be able to find 1156 style led bulb that fits your socket, There shouldn't be any changes to wiring or socket

Amazon sells LED bulbs that will fit. All you have to do is replace the bulb.

I replaced all my tail lights with compatible Bright star lights as mentioned earlier. For the red portion (non license plate side) I use red ones. My tail lights are now quite a bit brighter. I also upgraded my porch light bulb the same way. I have not yet upgraded marker lights. I will do those as old ones burn out.

Hi Gunny, since you do a lot of night work you might consider getting a couple thin single row led light bars to mount under bumper. They really give the light down low where you need it. On those type of RVs you have to cautious with the location so they don’t get knocked off. I have installed them for people and I look a place with no scrape marks and keep them close to the hitch so it becomes the guard.
