Toilet Replacement

Currently 75 days into a 4.5 month trip (our first long trip). The stock Dometic toilet in my 2017 FR3 28DS is a weak flusher. Valve clogs with plastic residue constantly. However, when it does flush as designed, it still must be cleaned manually to avoid a stinky bathroom.

We are contemplating replacing it with a porcelain toilet with "Powerflush". What experience have any of you had with upgrade toilets? Pls include brand and model number info in responses. Thanks

Keep water in the bowl about half full and you won't have flush problems, you shouldn't have to replace the toilet and you should never have any flush problems.

I replaced mine with a Dometic 320 porcelain elongated. Time to install was 15 minutes. Two bolts and the water pipe. The Dometic 300, 310 & 320 all have the same bolt pattern and water connection location.

The Dometic 320 porcelain flushes with water from all around the rim instead of just in the back. The only problem I had was keeping water in bowl. I had to clean and lube the flush valve rubber gasket with plumbers waterproof grease. I just opened the flush with the water off and cleaned it with a paper towel. When the gasket was clean & dry I applied the waterproof plumbers grease. I closed the valve and wiped up any extra grease.

I give a two thumbs up for the Dometic 320.

We are heading for Seward, Alaska today.

I had the Dometic 310 toilet installed in our new motor home before we even picked it up. Add the optional wood seat and you'll have all the comforts of home...

Second on the 320. Replaced the plastic POC (pun intended) and never looked back. Best upgrade I ever did.

I have a 310 now what to upgrade to 320 but not sure it will fit in Sunseeker 3010DS
Anyone do this upgrade?

I would like to replace Dometic 310 with a 320 not sure if it will fit! has any one done this upgrade or replace a 310 with the elongated bowel?

We have a 2016 3010DS. Instead of replacing the 310, I replaced the plastic seat with the wooden, slow close, replacement one.

If you go on the Dometic website, you can get the dimensions for each toilet model.

Most times, the critical deciding factor as to whether it will fit your current location is knowing the distance from the center of the “throat” going through the floor and the distance to the back of the unit where it backs to the wall.

See dimensions in the diagram attached for the 310 model.....in this case the 11” is the critical measurement.

I would like to do this in my 2018 32ds...
For those of you who upgraded to a 320, did the bowl extend forward or did some of the difference in the depth of the new toilet get taken up by the back of the toilet being closer to the wall? I noticed my stock 300 has about a 2 inch gap between the back of the toilet and the wall.

My 320 is touching my back wall.

Do you remember how much space you had I have about one inch hate to buy 320 if it will not fit where 310 was

One inch is all you need. See Rough-in dimensions for Dometic 300-320 below:

You will also have a 1/2 inch fudge factor as the floor flange is slotted for the bolts.

ps. I upgraded to a Dometic 320 over a year ago in May 2017. I made my decision with the installation manual only.

The photo of your Dometic 300 looks like it was crooked.

Was this photo taken when it was secured in position and being used?

Yes, that was from the factory. That is why I said you have a fudge factor.

The replacement was super easy two Nuts and a water connection. Most of the extra length was out front so no problems fitting. I had 1.5 inches from 310 to wall, now about .75 of an inch with 320 HAPPY it fit Thanks for you info everyone

No luck fitting the 320 into my 2018 32ds. The rough in was too close to the wall. Darn. I really liked the idea of having an elongated bowl in there.

Called Dometic after getting the odor from the 300. Took 2 years to develop but once it happened it was bad. Upgraded to the 310. Easy fit. However, when flushing the water pressure seems less than it was in the 300. Is that typical?

My 320 has water all around rim instead of single jet of the 300.

I've had very good results using Vasoline on the rubber seal. Had one that would not keep AF in the bowl in the winter. Cleaned, coated with Vasoline and it kept AF all winter long. No water loss during the summer either.
