Toilet Smell

I have a 2015 30DS and lately, no matter what holding tank treatment I use, my toilet still seems to stink. Some other FR3 owners have said that I probably need to replace the cheap plastic toilet that came in the FR3. They said that model has a problem. Do any others owners agree with this and have any additional advice, tips, etc???

There are a quite a few threads on this. If your toilet is a Dometic 300, there is a known issue with the design trapping urine.

Issue is true. The design of the toilet is two parts with the lower part having a trap for the liquid waste. This become a standing stagnated liquid waste that generates the smell you mentioned. I removed my toilet and separated the two sections. This was a messy job. I would recommend upgrading to a one piece toilet.

Iím going to ask a stupid question here. Iíve looked through the literature that came with my camper, and it isnít clear to me which Dometic toilet I have. No smells yet, but Iím wondering if Iíll have future issues.

Is the bowl plastic or is it porcelain? If it is plastic, you have the Model 300.

If it is porcelain, it is most likely the Model 310, but if it is porcelain and it is an elongated bowl, it is the Model 320. I doubt the factory installed a Model 320, though.

Ours has a manufacturer label attached to it on the back side which states the model number.

Thanks, nomad297 and WFD. It is porcelain. I will look for the model number out of curiosity, but it is reassuring to know it isn’t a model 300!

They all do, but my description is just as accurate and easier to see.
