TV channel scan on different TVs in unit find different numbers of channels

My FR3 28 DS has 3 TVs. The 2 small ones (bedroom and outside) almost always find more channels than the big TV over the sink. This is in digital antenna (air mode).

Any ideas why that might occur. Additionally, the small TVs search about twice as fast as the big TV.

Suggestions are appreciated.

We have three different brands in our coach, out of 5 tvs, and the three brands scan differently, at different speeds(why does it take so long on some?!), and get three different number of channels! Crazy, but true.

My LG is the best, and it's the easiest - it scans for ALL types of signals rather than having to change the 'input' and rescan... it will also show all types of channels under the same guide - no more flipping back and forth between inputs! Nice : )

Yup.....3 different brands of TVs and 3 different scan lists on our rig.

Although we’re all using an antennae on each of our rigs (and they’re probably different brands and styles) the TVs themselves obviously have their own intelligence and mechanisms to do the searching.

It’s just the way it is.

Different TVs have different quality receivers. I've had very good luck with Sony, Samsung, and Sanyo TVs. Past that, it is a crap shoot.

TVs vary as to their sensitivity, the ability to pick up weaker signals. One TV may find a weak channel too low a threshold signal strength wise to display it while another will find the same signal just over the threshold and display it. This same analogy can be applied to the wiring in the camper. How the connectors were put on the cables when they were made and how many splitters the signal goes thru to whatever TV. Each splitter will drop the signal by a factor.

Tuners/demodulator have different sensitivity and decoding ability. Usually less expensive the tv the lower quality tuner and demod.

Back in the day of mechanical channel selectors and analog signals the smaller TV's got better reception than the larger ones. Back in the late '70's when Chicago tried paid-over-the-air adult channel that you needed a decoder I had a 13" GE color TV that would pick up the signal from 45 miles away with rabbit ears. I'm not going to explain how I know this.

Most digital signals (ATSC) are transmitted on UHF frequencies while old analog (NTSC) were VHF. UHF frequencies do not travel as far and are more easily attenuated by buildings and trees etc.

I had this problem back in 2015 when the 2 TVs in my new 2016 Wildcat scanned success on different number of channels. Living room got 3 and bedroom got 12. I checked all the coax connectors. In particular the ones in the wall at the jack that has the antennae amplifier on/off button. Forest uses twist on connectors and they often don't make a good connection. I carefully tightened (and in some cases re-did) each of the connectors. Afterward both TVs scanned 54 channels (metro Dallas TX area). To this day both TVs always scan in the same number of channels (though that number varies depending where we are.)
